popeye1250 -> "Obama Rights Record Questioned Ahead of Nobel Prize." (12/9/2009 10:50:59 PM)

Here we go again, "Human Rights Watch" and "Amnesty International" are now questioning President Obama's stance on human rights!
Give me a break, he hasn't even been in office for a year yet and evidently he's supposed to be doing their bidding but isn't?
God I'm sick to death of "orgs" like those two!
Why do they *always* try to get the U.S. involved in their "causes?"
As I've said before I figure that it's just the right thing to do to *at least* give President Obama a chance in his first year in office and see how he does.
And of course the "Flat Earth Society" in Copenhagen will tear into Obama and the U.S. for,....."not doing enough" I'm sure!
Translation; "give the third world your wealth!"
A month before that cluster fuck in Copenhagen even started there were blurbs on Yahoo News about "how much" the U.S. was going to $contribute$!
They were plotting and scheming!
President Obama needs to tell the lot of them to go fuck themselves!

Fuck, it's not even his human rights record they're talking about.

Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International urged Obama to use his acceptance speech on Thursday to renew U.S. leadership on human rights after its position was undermined by abuses committed during the Bush administration's war on terrorism...

Obama has adopted a pragmatic style of foreign policy, winning praise for showing a willingness to talk to states such as Iran and North Korea... But Amnesty and Human Rights Watch said this pragmatism had sometimes come at the expense of speaking out about human rights in countries like China

Give me a break is right.

K.

Kirata, anytime I hear about "orgs" like that I get visions of guys in pony tails who've never done any type of manual labor!
Guys with trust funds left to them by "Daddy."
We need to end funding for this nonsense and cast those bums out into the "dreaded private sector."

What is so great about manual labour again? Does it give someone a special bill of moral wholesomeness? Because that's what you seem to be saying.

Oh nice, now the Norwegians are angry with Obama because, he didn't stay long enough!
I wonder what *they* wanted from him?

Hello Sailorman, this is my mercy post for you!
[;)]

This thread has been sitting here languishing all day, with only 5 responses {3 which have been from you}.

I am glad that you pointed out that many people have expected a lot from a President that has only been in office 11 months.
Many are wondering why everything was not perfect immediately after he was elected, why hasn't he used his magic wand yet?
How many great accomplishments {if any} did our last President do in 8 years in office?

... Says someone who's never stood in the sweltering Kenyan heat, laying copper and fiber-optic lines to deliver power and communications to tribal villages, all the while praying that no one drives by in a pick-up truck and SHOOTS YOU.

No manual labor, indeed.

It doesn't count unless you had a ponytail.

Nice, now that actress "Angelina Jolie" is berating Obama because he's neglecting a, "cause I believe in", "Darfur!"
What business is "Darfur" of ours anyway?
Funny, "Hollywood" people trying to lecture the rest of us about,....."Moral causes!"

Ialdaboath, what are you on about?

Working for one of those foreign aid programmes you're opposed to, at a guess.

In the principal areas where the government should have "accomplishments", security and the economy, he had several great accomplishments.

Just more of Barry's hypocrisy (though in this case it leads to the right decision)

Okay, sticking to your own stated categories.....
Economy....are you fucking kidding me....do I even need to refute this silly claim.
Security.....are you fucking kidding me.....do I even need to refute this silly claim.
A recession and two wars as he left office and this poster wants to list these areas as accomplishments.....nothing more need be said!!!!!!!!!

With out taking sides or asssigning value to them, it should be noted that Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International do not go lay wire in Kenya.....they are a completely different type of org, than Popeye references....

And I don't think Ialdoboth is riding around in a limo with free hookers in Copenhaggen this week. But if you are whoop it up!!

Ialdabaoth -> RE: "Obama Rights Record Questioned Ahead of Nobel Prize." (12/14/2009 1:56:16 AM)

No, Amnesty International certainly doesn't lay fiber in Kenya. They do have "field workers", however, who risk life and limb investigating claims of human rights abuse, and those people do take their duties pretty seriously.

And yeah, every organization has paper-pushers. It's an unfortunate and ultimately frustrating reality. And yeah, it's the paper-pushers and the face-men - of any organization - that get to parade around places like Copenhagen, their nights full of call-girls and limousines, while the people doing the real work are getting shot at. Same as the government; same as the church.
