Phoenixpower -> how does it comes that my bruises don't hurt anymore??? (12/18/2009 4:51:36 PM)

I am currently a bit puzzled...Many years ago when I was caned by C-Dom...it did hurt for ages when I was sitting down the following 2-3 weeks and even during the years where I had next to no contact with him at times I had the impression as if I would feel the lines again from the cane...was odd to have that impression...but that's how it appeared to me....

now since I met him again I am a lil bit colourful again on my backside...but strangely it hurts amazingly little...so kind of it looks much worse then it actually is for me...so I am wondering if anyone knows why that is...and if others experienced that as well, e.g. after a few canings that they might be blue and black again but have next to know pain from sitting onto it...

Maybe you built up a tolerance to that type of pain?

Maybe he's more skilled now so he isn't inflicting bruises that go as deep as before?

I experienced my first caning about a week ago (and my brusises are humongous lol), but they dont hurt at all. The first day after, yeah, a bit, normal bruise sore, and then nothing. My ass is just black and blue :P It's prolly normal, so I wouldn't worry about it.

When I was a waitress my hands became impervious to heat... I developed the ability to handle almost scalding hot items with just slight discomfort... I was told this was partially nerve damage from handling things that were too hot, and using water hot enough to sterilize dishes.... perhaps it is the same concept?

thanks julia...I assumed as well that it might be nerve damage...so that is possible [:o]

On the bright side, years later my hands have become more sensitive to heat again... nerves do heal.

The body is incredibly resilient despite our best efforts to do it damage. And we damage it but there are a myriad of complex redundant systems that repair damaged tissue, muscle, bone, close off the broken blood vessels, (bruising you see) return leaked fluid to the blood, identify and destroy foreign bodies (antigens). That's what you're experiencing. As trauma occurs to tissue, the systems repair it, so they are continually reinforcing an area that is experiencing repeated trauma. I don't think mother nature or evolution took BDSM into account.

that really made me laugh, thanks for that line [:D]

I was just puzzled at that time as it looked far worse then when I was caned by him the first time a few years ago, but the first time did hurt for two weeks when I sat down, whereas now it looked much worse but did not hurt at all....just felt odd, thats why I asked to see if others have any ideas about it...

The day after the night with him I went to my placement and didn't feel anything and the day after I did not dare to wear my jeans as I thought that must be far too painful to squeeze it into a jeans...so I chose to wear my smart trouser again at uni which I normally only wear for placement (as there we aren't allowed to wear jeans). But then at the evening I realised that there is no pain at all...

I also read on the board that certain medication such as aspirin might worsen bruises and I took a lot of painkillers during the day before meeting him (my guess would be by 10-14 tablets) as my cold was killing me (that's at least how it felt like) and so that might have worsened the bruising on that occassion.

I did show one study mate pics from my bruises the day after and when she realised that I truly enjoyed that session she had a dirty laugh, followed by saying "you are more sick then I ever thought...lol..."
