ORIGINAL: cloudboy Generally this line of questioning turns you into a pinata here, and as you've probably learned, you're on your own. Don't lose faith that you can break from traditional roles and male attire, but at the same time remember that hostility and derision come with the territory. The idea that you can't do real work in a French Maid's uniform is wrong, and the idea that you should be a butler is bigoted bullshit. Lastly, the idea that wanting to be a french maid is a "modeling only" proposition is a slanderous, stereotype. The salient fact here is a hostility to cross dressing -- from which come derivative rationales. Bypass all this, if you can, and just find someone who can appreciate you. Dude...really? I am as far from hostile to crossdressing as it is possible to get! But honestly, there has to be a level of realism and rationality to it all for it to work in a life setting and someone looking to buy the outfit in order to somehow "train" up is just silly. We want the outfit because it makes us feel pretty, not because it is proper for actually doing work. So yea, in many the expectation is to not get dirty, not have to scrub, scour, or tote that barge or lift that bail. French Maid outfits are for the parlor, the dining room, or the tea room, not the kitchen, laundry, or bath, and they are not for heavy labor or for cleaning, they are for decorous serving. It's great to have fantasy, but when you take the fantasy out of your head and into real life, you gotta temper it with some realism, or you will just get laughed out of the room...
