I dunno about "absolute freedom" and it's consequences since I've never experienced it. We've all seen the consequences of absolute power, but, absolute freedom ? Not yet. I suspect, as some posters have suggested, that absolute freedom, like water, will find it's own level. Why not try it ? We've tried everything else.

People use different phrases for the same thing because if you have absolute power then you have absolute freedom.

If you have freedom to do as you like then that is absolute power to do as you like.

I just don't see the difference philosophically speaking?

I suppose if you were in the middle of a desert you’d have all this freedom of movement but no power of drinking water so you don’t actually have total freedom in that situation. If there happens to be a restaurant nearby that you owned then you’d have freedom. Except you’d be alone without the power or freedom to talk to people. Since we all have dependencies none of us have actual freedom or power.

Dude, you are in a quagmire. That's why I gave up faith in philosophy, beyond logic , long ago. My advice is to be a true existentialist. Forget theory. Live only from the truth that your own experience teaches you.

True, some sincere psychos exist. Nevermind. They will be assimilated.

Spread your wings and be free. You might crash, you might soar. Who knows ? But the way things are, it's only a flash of lightning in the vast darkness anyway.

Take a crack at it and have fun. Here...have a bite of this apple, it's quite delicious.

This is true, I was thinking about the whole pointlessness of it the other day. Even if you invented an endless power source or a way of feeding everyone on earth the human race will eventually become extinct. It is such a finite piece of the entire universe which is infinitely old in comparison. If you think about the rule that states the smaller the part of the system is the less influence it has over the entire process (opposite of the butterfly effect). You realise we have zero chance of changing anything in the entire universe, if it be measured by how the universe changes as the result of our existence within it.

This is why people have faith because their ego can't cope with being unimportant to the universe me thinks. Or perhaps they have it because they just can’t believe it is all for nothing.

This has nothing to do with moderation, this entire post should be removed as it is irrelevant to moderation and ultimately it won’t last forever anyway. So remove it now rather than let the universe do it at some inevitable stage later![:D]

Well, I think it's more grown-up because it feels less like we're in school under the watchful eye of rule-enforcement zealots, however benevolent and well-intentioned they may be... The ability to ruffle feathers is one of the joys of conversation, and the prohibition of sarcasm, irony and a number of other things had made these fora rather staid and sanitized - not that I have anything against hygiene, but sometimes, getting down and dirty is one of the pleasures of adulthood after all :-) . Besides, there was something seriously warped about people having to feel like they were walking on eggs in an adult forum such as this one: that irony was never lost on any of us, was it [8D] ?

Gosh kitin, are you a writer? Considered writing a book? I love the way you write. Send those guys a picture of your brain it is super shmexy.

It is cool to feel this is a place to wave the freak flag. I find it refreshing to feel free to express myself even if it is not a common stance. There are some posters who grate me the wrong way and I barely read what they have to say, but I am not feeling like I need to jump up and down and get rid of them. I found it ironic how upset some people would get here. Sometimes the intolerance seems hilarious. To me, anyway.

I am glad domi and Jefff are back. I like the progression and the process. Was Tempting away too? I am glad I see her again as well.

I remember noticing Jefff gone and I was like, Heyyyy where's he at? Then around the same time a Jeff showed up but now there was a Carol too. I was like, hmmm did I miss something?

I went over to Fet and there he was! The Jeffffffff I was missing. There are some clever interesting folks here. Very adorable lovable freaks.

You are much too kind *blush*.

Still, your comment reminded me of this song :-)

He was hurting for the answers
He was serving up the questions
He was searching for a guru, he was lucky that he knew you
When I saw your fine physique, I was into you like a train
And I love it when you speak you're so urbane
Oh, I love your brain

I'm gonna say it again
Love your brain
It's a beautiful brain
I wanna be with your brain
I wanna sleep with your brain

She was looking like a roman
She was cooking it with fire
She was talking right to me
And I couldn't unglue me
Though I am no duke of earl you are my chatelaine
I love the way the world drives you insane!

Waving the freak flag is fine. It is very rare to see intolerance of kinks here. What you usually see intolerance of are views that people hold or the way they express them. A lot of times the subject matter isn't even specific to WIITWD.

When some people blow their cool and just resort to abuse and are called on it - it's not intolerance. The right not to be abused exists as strongly as that of being able to express your views. Freedom and civility aren't mutually inclusive, but the former works better when the latter is applied.

The Irony is that some people are in such a thing and revert back to less than adult behavior...The fact that particular people are backing such things isn't a surprise to me in the slightest. The ability to ruffle feathers for the sake of it..What a wonderfully submissive attitude.

What's funny is that most of these people wouldn't dare call you names to your face. Not because of any physical or verbal threat that a person poses. It's the anonimity that the cowards behind a screen feel so empowered by.

Jefff, you're right. I think they've found a pretty good balance. I've seen what really poor moderation can do to a discussion forum - Bondage.com used to have a terrific Politics section, and it's totally useless now. Just the same half dozen posters calling each other assholes in 20 different threads a day. I think Collarme used to swing too far in the other direction, but now they seem to have found a pretty damned good middle ground. I like it, and I hope they let it settle into this range.

Im glad the stringent moderation is gone. However, it still taught me lessons. I did learn how to express myself in a way that I choose my words more carefully without resorting to name calling.

It will come in handy to have a "submissive attitude" so well defined

What did I do without it?

I doubt very much.

No some wouldn't dare say shit to your face. So they throw out an enigmatic post with nothing to back it up. When asked just spew more speculative assumptions without anything to learn from and say, "don't CM me back." Big.

I am relatively new on these boards and I have had to go through a learning curve but I am starting to feel at home. I don't much like the name calling but I do like the freedom of expression. I really enjoy the give and take and I am grateful as hell for all the funny stuff and the stuff I learn a lot about. I am surprised at how frank some are at calling someone out for saying stupid stuff, but I approve of that also. This is a terrific site. Just my 2 cents.

Well you are terrific too(even if I disagree with you most of the time)![:D]

Most people can find a way to work it out among themselves or ignore each other. I would encourage the fine folks who operate Collar Me to let it continue.

These are your boards. We are here to make sure things don't go against the TOS.

There is always a moderator or two around and you should feel free to message us when you need.

On that note, happy and healthy New Year to you all!

GEEEEZ!!!! Why so cheery????

I miss Mod 11. She really knew how to make EVERYONE submit![:D]
