We are in trouble...

The population of the U.S. is 300 million.

160 million are retired.
That leaves 140 million to do the work.

There are 85 million in school.
Which leaves 55 million to do the work.

Of this there are 35 million employed by the federal government.
Leaving 20 million to do the work.

2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied with killing Osama Bin-Laden.
Which leaves 17.2 million to do the work.

Take from that total the 15.8 million people who work for state and city Governments.
And that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.

At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.
Leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.
That leaves just two people to do the work.

You and me.

I took off yet another Monday, so statistically that means that we've advanced to the point where fifty percent of the workforce has switched to four day weeks. Never thought it would be so easy.

You know what's weird (don't quote me on the figures) apparently with the introduction of the computer 20,25 years ago in the office, individual productivity in the office has gone up like 15%...but we still have long-ass work days.

Wtf?

All our labor  saving devices just give us the time to do more labor.

Boy I love my job

LOL. It is over 20 years ago a great mentor of mine, Scully Levin, 3 times world aerobat world champ and 5 striper in SAA, told me that hauling a 747 from JHB to Heathrow was the most boring job he could think about. That is why he needed to go out and fly a "real plane" once in a while. Hence the Pitts special. The 747 and everything superseeding it does most of the work for the pilot.
