SweetPoosy -> New Years Resolutions for your cat or dog... (1/4/2010 8:11:02 AM)

If your cat or dog could make New Years resolutions...or if you could make them for it, tell us what they would be.

I'll start with two of my cats...

Spud: I will try to understand that while my Mama loves me, putting my long whiskers in her face in the middle of the night while she is sleeping is a bit disconcerting. Likewise, while she is very happy to know how much I love her, I will remember that I have sharp claws and that making bread on her bare skin can cause her to become aggravated.

Stinky Pete: I will do something about my garlic breath. I will also endeavour to leave the bed for more than 20 minutes in the course of the day. I will refrain from winding in between the Mama's feet during those rare sojourns from the bedroom. I will also stop peeing in the baskets of clean laundry before the Mama has a chance to put them away.

So what would your pet's resolutions be?

Kitty will excell at prining her and me.

OK, I need more sleep...sorry PA, I didn't "get" that one.

Dusty:  I will work on anger management.   I will try not to be so belligerent toward those annoying overweight white neighborhood cats that eat out of my food bowl.  After all, Mom puts enough food in the bowl for all of us and the least I can do is be gracious about sharing with them (though heaven knows they don't need to be eating my food).

Lily:  I will try to curtail my impulse to scratch the sofa and will only scratch my scratching post.  Mom has warned me that we are getting a new sofa and chair in the near future and that my current behavior will not be tolerated.  She yells at me now, but has warned me that the cursed spray bottle is coming back out.  I should work on this now so I am ready when the new furniture comes.

In addition, I will remember not to jump up on Mom's work table while she is working.  She keeps reminding me of this, yet I seem to forget about once a week or so.

Misty:  I will try to work on impulse control.  When I see blonde hair against a pillow, I get this irresistible urge to pull on it.  However, this wakes Mom up at ungodly hours and then she is cranky.  I also vow to stop getting under the bedspread and scratching that one area of the mattress that I like so much.

I would like to say that I will work on my obsessive behavior with regard to complaining loudly when my food bowl is only half empty and there is still plenty of food to eat.  However, I think this one is beyond my control and that I need professional help.  Since Mom doesn't know any good animal psychologists, this behavior probably won't change.

For the pooch: to make sure that he remains as cancer free as possible (just came out of surgery yesterday) but at the very least, make his life as active and rewarding as I possibly can.

We are going to bond more.

I am getting her used to standing on my shoulders.  She hesitated- it feels like a massage when she balances on my shoulders.

The pooch's own resolution would be to eat more scraps.
My resolution for him would be stop lying under my feet so I can't move without tripping on him.

OK, here are the next two...

Calvin: I will try to stop being a Jekyll/Hyde kitteh. When MaMa is scritching me, I will not reach out and WHACK her for no apparent reason. I will stop baiting my brother Hobbes. I will stop marking my territory.

Hobbes: I will try to tolerate Calvin. I will try to tolerate the other kittehs on the bed, and I will not go all "king of the hill" and chase them off in a fit of rage whenever I get jealous. I will sleep on MaMa's pillow, NOT on her belly. I will be grateful for the plentiful dry food, and will not get booty hurt when only the old kitteh gets wet food.

I'll aim for the stars and say my cat should resolve to get a job.

VirginPotty -> RE: New Years Resolutions for your cat or dog... (1/5/2010 1:11:47 PM)

Jolly:  I will stop jumping on the bathroom sink to look at myself in the mirror as Mom tries to put on her makeup. I am handsome & need no help. She on the other hand needs all the help she can get.
I will stop letting my alter ego--Jolly-Nator--surface whenever new foster kitties arrive. I have my forever home & will stop being territorial.[image]http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_22_19.gif[/image]

Jilly:  I will stop freaking out/using the cat bed as a litter box when the next new foster kittens arrive. I have my forever home & will stop being insecure.[image]http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_1_24.gif[/image]

Foster-kitten Holly:  I will stop using Foster Mom's leg as a post to cling to when I jump onto the couch. I will stop pouncing on her barefeet w/my oh so sharp claws.
I do not have my forever home & will need to behave while the search continues. **Anyone wanna adopt me**??[image]http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_22_20.gif[/image]

ShaharThorne -> RE: New Years Resolutions for your cat or dog... (1/5/2010 1:42:58 PM)

Georgie:  I resolve not to poop in the bathroom or kitchen during the night.  I will be content to wait until sunrise and do that business outside while Shahar is freezing her nipples off.

I hope your pooch stays well! Hugs!

The Small and Stupid One: I will do everything in the new year exactly the same way I did in the old year. After all, I'm too cute for Mama to punish and Daddy's on my side... until he does that thing where he lets Mama punish me with non-consentual cuddles.

The Big and Noisy One: I will try not to wake Daddy at ungodly hours of the morning by trying to dig through the door, especially after last time when he snapped my nose with a rat-tail. I will also not broadcast my desire to be fed despite having most of my food bowl full from the night before. However, I will continue trying to steal Daddy's computer chair out from under him.

LadyEllen -> RE: New Years Resolutions for your cat or dog... (1/5/2010 8:58:21 PM)

I've asked my kitties. They refuse to make resolutions but since I brought the subject of changes up they have issued a series of demands and informed me that bad things will happen if they are not met.

DomMeinCT -> RE: New Years Resolutions for your cat or dog... (1/5/2010 9:04:08 PM)

Her Majesty the Pretty Pretty Princess:  I promise to try and leave fewer wet pawprints on the toilet seat (if you promise to keep buying me that horrifically expensive cat food).

Valyraen -> RE: New Years Resolutions for your cat or dog... (1/5/2010 9:05:54 PM)

Ah, that reminds me, I'd forgotten!

The Small and Stupid One: I resolve to try and understand that meat is food, and not simply something to bat around the house until it's gross and disgusting.

Lashra -> RE: New Years Resolutions for your cat or dog... (1/5/2010 9:24:57 PM)

My cats have stated that new years resolutions are a "human thang" that cats will not stoop down to. Sorry guys, they just will not come down to our level.
