I did a search for it and didn't find that much (will try harder shortly...) but I wanted to try this and see what happens lol.

I know breath play and asphyxia aren't on the list of kinks and what not on the site, and I can sorta understand where they're coming from... but ya, I just wanted to get a general knowledge of where others stand on it.

It's like anything else, know your risks, take pre-cautions and always be careful with your toys!!

We love this kind of play! It is the height of his control over me, when he literally holds my life in his hands.

It's extremely hot but there is no way to prevent cardiac arrest from happening. You could do it safely 100 times and die the 101st. The risk is such that we don't do it. He will pinch my nose for a moment while my mouth is covered with his. And he'll put his hands around my neck but not add any pressure.

i knew an ER Doc in NYC who said that a lot more people die from this sort of play than you think - as a matter of fact, it is so common it doesn't even make the news.

As DesFIP points out, it is impossible to judge the body's reaction from one session to the next - each session will be different due to your physiological homeostasis that day.  And yes, cardiac arrest happens just as often as flat out asphyxiation.

And yes, i am a slave posting this - and i trust any potential Owner for me to be smart about these things and the risks as well, and for him to make safe decisions for me.  Sometimes part of not breaking your toys is simply not playing with them that way in the first place.

What many people term "breath play" is really "blood flow play". You pass out due to the blood either being held from getting to your brain. Since this does prevent oxygen from getting there, it often gets mistaken for air restriction Some martial arts make a distinction; strangles are blood chokes and chokes are air chokes.

FireMaam is dead on with this one.  A little (or a lot) carotid pressure can give someone the same feeling as the extreme end of breath play. I have some experience with this, you should not let your partner go completely unconscious and it should not be done when drugs or alcohol are present.

I put turn on, but it isn't something I participate in myself - except for the fluffy type.  I usually end up hospitalized once a year for complications from asthma, so I tend to try and be careful about anything that can trigger a panic attack, which is one of my asthma triggers.

Besides, the lack of oxygen to my brain can't be good.  I'm not all that certain I can afford to lose......

Repeated constriction of blood flow and also cause vascular damage. There are many dangers in life, and each of us make the assessment on risk to reward. There is a "choke" that you can do from front mount, meaning that you are facing the person. This will allow full view of their face and eyes, which is necessary to determine at what stage they are at in the "choke". Once they enter the first stage is when it should be released, this stage is often when you see people in MMA do a tap out. The second stage is unconsciousness, and if it reaches stage two they can go into cardiac or respitory arrest. I hope no one ever sees stage three first hand.

Many things are dangerous, learn the skills, learn how to minimize risk, and learn what the consequences can be.

It's definitely a hard limit for me, and one of those things that tends to make me feel like it's so unsafe that no one should do it! On the other hand, I like to be beaten and whipped, so I try to be more reasonable, and just say YKINMK.

I can understand the attraction a bit--the idea of my partner holding my very LIFE in her hands IS an exhilarating one.  But as far as I can tell, there's too much that could go wrong for me to be willing to add it to my list of ideas to try.

Huge turn on.  Daddy is extremely safe with this, and I've come to enjoy it quite a lot.  (as evidenced by the times when I take His hand and put it around my throat)

This was very well said.

The idea is a huge turn on for me, but to actually do it is one of my few hard limits.
