FelinePersuasion -> After flogging tight back pain (3/21/2006 11:57:45 AM)

I have a bad back and it's been pretty ok lately as far as ease of walking. And being able to move and stuff.

It's been about 2 years since I got to play, any kind of play, Well I was flogged lightly, I WAS warmed up fiirst this was after all kinds of other sub spacey inducing things haha.

not to hard but it did start  to sting so beautifully, and a few times the tails accidently wraped about and got me on the side by the breasts and yesterday I woke up feeling like someone had karatee choped my ribs both sides. right up under the breasts but in the back.
I found a guy in rosevill who's a back doctor and I am going today but since this group prolly has more experince with floggers I wanted to ask on group. Besides it might make an interesting read for others as well.

HI
I really do not think your back problems are from the flogging, let me know what your doctor says.

all kinds of things might be at play here. What kind of back problems are you known for? Even the lightest of impacts can exacerbate a situation that you initially thought might be safe to go ahead and do. However at the same time, it might be that the flogging itself may have inadvertantly alerted you to a problem you might not have known about prior to, or it can be something completely unrelated. It likely has nothing to do with the wraparound, as wraparound would be more likely to cause pain in the sides and breasts, and on me seems to cause some beautiful marks.

I do have a similar experience to relate however. I have a problem with tension headaches, which may be attributed to my eyesight as well as stiff neck. My last flogging/caning left welts that caused the shoulders to become swollen and I did get a headache the next day and one every day after since then. However I did have a headache the day of, after a nice long remission of no headaches. Yet, I refuse to blame the flogging for the sudden relapse. It has reminded me to get my eyes checked, and also get my body realigned by my friend's dad, who is a chiropracter.

Did you have any pain the day of? Here is hoping your doctor gives you the signal it is ok to go back to what you were doing. I doubt it was the flogging directly, but it is possible the activity may exacerbate the problem. Good luck, and here's hoping the doc, gives you a solution to your worries.

I do not claim to know exactly what is going on. My post is based solely on my experiences under the lash.

I'm going to speculate here....Perhaps it was the position that your body was in when you were being flogged?  Perhaps it was the position that you slept in after the flogging?  Maybe it's your same old existing back problem rearing it's ugly head?  Maybe it really was the impact of the flogging itself?

I hope the doctor can give you some insight, because I could speculate all day...LOL.  Whatever it is, let us know.  Hope you feel better soon.

Ok I told the doctor and he said am I bruised? and I said no and he said that it could just be normal old pain from the back injury and being tense normally. He wasn't worried, He was actually quite cool about it  I was all shy and I was like well umm uhh,,, I'm into spankings and floggings, do you know what a flogger is? he said yes and I said ok well I was hit with one and that was that.

Slipstream I fell off a horse 4 years ago, and the injury was never treated never done anything to minimize damage, my back problems are extreamly general,  like walking, sitting, lifting bending, daily life things. I felt tender the day of play, not pain outright but like  where you have the potential to become tired. but you're not yet. I really wasn't planning on being flogged we were  using them very lightly and he got into it:D

I have muscle relaxors now due to the previous pain of the injury that caused the back problems , and We're  going to try acupuncture to  slow the spazoms of the muscles.

back pain?  its been a long friend of mine.  One of the things i notice that makes it worse is how tense i get.   i tend to get tense quite easily feel it from my neck to my lower back.  But my problems are from thinking i'm a 6 foot man instead of a 5 foot woman.

And i can imagine you, not being flogged in awhile, getting abit "tenser" then normal during the session.  Getting tense for me, usually just makes the problem i already have worse.  Course alot of things do, but i've noticed that tension has/was playing a major factor.  I liken getting tense, to holding yourself tighter and the more tense you are.. the tighter you hold yourself.. the more you use the muscles.

A lady friend some time back gave a few of her best strokes with a kat, upper back and bottox, followed by half as many with a quert to my bottom. The wreathing about in pain from the quert is what may have caused me to experiance considerable lower back pain. Most definately not from the bitting of the lash, entirely diferent type of pain.

My unqualified opinion is that maybe I wasn't bound tightly enough? Any one ever have this before?

Being a long sufferer of back pain and nerve damage in my spine... I can only state as it happens to me... when being given the honor of being spanked.... and recently introduced to flogging... I tense up... feeling all of it.. the after effects... the pain in my back... the pain of movement... makes me appreciate my methadose even more... [:D]

One night of heaven..... sends me into hell for 2-3 days.... but it's well worth it in the long run for me...

You may want to research into what is referred to as a pain block..The basics of it is that a physiatrist will inject into your back cortisone to relieve it of an inflammatory process...sometimes this may be done as many as 3 times..You may or may not get relief it truly depends on the nature of your injury,But sometimes it can be a stop gap help nonetheless....be well..tempting

I haven't been bound since my first flogging, but I do know that if you jerk around uncontrollably you can hurt yourself. This has a lot to do with your own ability to keep yourself still enough. I've ended up with minor pain in my arms/ face, from jerking around due to a particularly hard flogging, but the fact I can take it without bindings is a sense of pride for me, and worth the extra bruises.

It also takes a Top to know when not to hit. Some people do spasm in response to being hit; intensity dependant or not. Some people will also go into convulsions due to pleasure (ie: me). It is never a good idea to carry a swing through in the middle of a spasm, but rather, after the person has returned to the position, and after their muscles have relaxed. There are a series of rythmic muscular contractions that happen in response to being hit, intially becoming tense then relaxing, which is a normal reaction of the body, which may be a cause of some of the spasms.

I've found myself more mentally tired and physically not wanting to go anywhere or do anything the day of or day after a flogging but is simply my subspace wearing off, but has been a general "feels good" feeling for me. Then again, so are the bruises. :P

Nice to know your doctor gave you the "all's well" to continue doing what you're doing. Kindof stinks nothing was done about the initial injury though. Hopefully the relaxors will help out.

Definately though, keeping your muscles relaxed will let you go further in flogging then tensing up, and I've found that a light enough flogging is more like a massage; getting rid of muscle pain rather than causing it.
