Hello. My Master liked the idea of me sleeping in wrist cuffs. The problem is that when I sleep in the cuffs just clipped together, my shoulders *ache* the next day.

I thought about perhaps connecting the cuffs with a lightweight chain so I could still move my shoulders enough while I sleep. I *like* the feeling... except for the shoulder pain the next day. :P

Any suggestions or caveats would be awesome. :) Thank you in advance. :) He'd like to make this an every night thing, which obviously makes my shoulders ache right now just thinking about it.

I know someone who sleeps in ankle cuffs each and every night. It's not the sleeping with ankle cuffs on, or hooked together or whatever that is being submissive. It is the fact that no matter how tired she is, she puts those ankle cuffs on.

Perhaps your Master can also understand the submissive act of putting on the cuffs without those cuffs having to be chained together. You could have a nightly ritual that involves the cuffs such as kneeling on the floor and kissing them before putting them on. I have never considered Masters as being unfeeling. If those cuffs hooked together are causing you pain and a poor night's rest, then he should be made aware of the problem. Then you can both discuss the problem and perhaps come up with a solution that works for you both.

My former M had me sleep in wrist cuffs (the kind that goes behind your back and connects to your neck) nearly every night for almost two years. My shoulders ached a lot at first, but then after a while I got used to it. I eventually got creative in finding positions to sleep in and also managing to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I even learned to make coffee & toast in the mornings (my cuffs were padlocked so I couldn't release myself) with my hands behind my back. The exception was when I was having my girlie time because it required much more dexterity to take care of that in the middle of the night.

I also agree it wasn't being cuffed that was the submissive part for me; it was the fact that it was something he wanted and so I managed to do it night after night. I used to write in my journal about how there was no pain I wouldn't endure for his pleasure, so when I really didn't feel like being cuffed I just had to remember that and actually prove it.

Perhaps your Master could start with cuffing your hands in front of you for a while, or setting an alarm that would go off after a few hours so he could unhook you when your arms started to get sore? There are also other more comfortable ways to be confined at night--there are straps that attach each hand to one thigh that might be less invasive, or maybe having your arms crossed in front of you and tied behind like in a straight jacket?

If he is as creative as many M's are, I am sure he could come up with something.

As far as caveats the only one that I really ever worried about was if there was a fire & we couldn't find the key to unlock me before having to run out in the street.

Ankle Cuff attached to a chain fixed to the base of bed.
Used it on my slave for over two years until we moved.

Since you're looking for suggestions, a collar and chain leash seem to be popular. Though I'd recommend a chain long enough to reach the bathroom. If the two of you are looking for something a little more restrictive, you might consider something like this: http://www.dreamstrike.com/bazaar/sirikmain.html But if your master has his heart set on cuffing your hands like that, a chain long enough that your elbows can reach your breasts will make things a lot more comfortable.

He has me sleep in wrist cuffs and ankle cuffs and worries about my comfort due to a variety of reasons. He has added multiple links connecting the cuffs rather than one link connecting the cuff, which generally allows me more flexibility. The other thing that has made a difference is changing from the metal cuffs to leather cuffs, they also have eradicated this issue for me.

Use a choke chain dog collar which has rings on each end. Instead of locking the rings to the cuffs, close the lock around the chain so that it can slide through but the rings stop it from coming out.

That length will be much more comfortable for sleeping, and by grabbing either ring your master can pull your hands together quickly and lock them close.

this slave sleeps in wrist and ankle cuffs every night, and oftentimes wears them throughout the day.

they aren't connected together, though...

I just love to sleep in my Ankle and Wrist Cuffs, without being attached to anything. Just the feel of the Leather on my Wrists and Ankles, are enough to let me know I am a sub (even alone).

Like giving a cheap gift for Christmas, "It's the thought that counts" !

In addition to all the other great ideas, I have two suggestions. One, in my experience the most comfortable position to sleep with your hands behind your back is sort of half-curled up in a semi-fetal position, and twisted somewhat forward so that your weight is on the front of the shoulder that's in contact with the floor. This is much easier on the shoulder than lying directly on your side, and makes it much less likely that you'll cut off the circulation in your arm.

Second, yoga is invaluable. Regular stretching exercises for the shoulders and elbows (which are often overlooked) will do wonders for keeping those joints loose and limber during the long nights.

Oh - and third, it's helpful if you can learn to half-wake up frequently throughout the night and switch sides.

Hm. OK, that was three suggestions instead of two. Sorry about that. Just pick whichever two sound best, and ignore the other one!

Bondmaid123, I had that problem and my Lady had me use for my wrists the further apart ankle cuffs, separated by about 10 inches with a chain. They are very nice and sleeping in them is easy.

The key to improving your situation is conditioning. With time you'll find a bondage combination that satisfies your doms need for submission from you and yet allows you to sleep comfortably. I have submitted to very strict bondage while sleeping and after a long training period where my dom adjusted my bondage to get slightly tighter and more restrictive with each passing night I was able to sleep comfortably in a locking hood, leg cuffs, and a firmly strapped straitjacket. I did not enjoy the bondage so much as enjoy my dom having me be his bondage dolly to cuddle with in the middle of the night. He also liked that he could track me around the house by listening for my leg chains. Everyone has different abilities. Finding out what yours are is a fun experience.

I think either connecting cuffs around your wrists to a collar around your neck, and having your hands at your neck. The other position I can think of would be tied up while on your stomach so your hands are in front of you. this would probably be best for those with shoulder problems, especially since you could tear your shoulder muscles without much effort

I'll frequently sleep with legs cuffed, these joined by another pair of cuffs to the bedframe under the sheets, and wrists and thumbs cuffed, with a second pair of cuffs attached from wrist to bedframe.

Always nice waking up and remembering the situation you're in.
