mydestiny2043 -> "Let Him Dig" (1/13/2010 11:11:16 PM)

An old man and woman were married for many years, even though they hated each other. When they had a confrontation, screaming and yelling could be heard deep into the night. The old man would shout, "When I die, I will dig my way up and out of the grave and come back and haunt you for the rest of your life!"

Neighbors feared him. They believed he practiced black magic, because of the many strange occurrences that took place in their neighborhood.

The old man liked the fact that he was feared. To everyone's relief, he died of a heart attack when he was 58.

His wife had a closed casket at the wake. After the burial, she went straight to the local bar and began to party, as if there was no tomorrow..

Her neighbors, concerned for her safety, asked, "Aren't you afraid that he may indeed be able to dig his way up and out of the grave and come back to haunt you for the rest of your life?"

The wife put down her drink and said, "Let him dig. I had him buried upside down......"

I must be even wierder than I thought, as you are not the only person to have focussed on that particular part of the joke. And I don't think the person who wrote it did so to mean if you're 58 you're old. Otherwise why would everyone be relieved when he had a heart attack and died at age 58?  I took it to mean everyone was relieved (there for weren't expecting it like I would if one was truly old). But above all it was meant as humor,not to make someone feel old. Hell I'm 50 if I took that statement at face value I'd be thinking dam I now have one foot in the grave and am standing on a bananna peel with the other[8D]so why not just park my rocker/wheelchair and wait to check out.  I just found it interesting that particular part of the joke is what stayed in some peoples minds,but in my mind I was trying to figure out how long it would take him before he realized he was digging the wrong way[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Easy solution is just to take out the word old, it adds nothing to the joke and is not neccesary.

Still Found it very Funny

That would be fine if It was my joke, but it's just one of many I get through emails and if I enjoyed it I pass it along. Who am I to take someone elses joke do a proof read, then delete what I think adds nothing or is not nececesary. That would defeat the purpose of the post which is hopefully make someone else chuckle as I did, and that's what humor is all about (at least for me).[;)]
