I am looking for a game for the Sony Play Station 2, a game I used to have some five years ago, but have forgotten the name of it, which kind of stuffs me with my desire to search for it again, so I was hoping by describing some of the features I remember the game had, style, plot etc, someone here might be able to come up with a suggestion as to what it is called.

Ok, from what I know and was told at the time I first had it, the game I am searching for now for my  PS2,  was an old arcade game. The plot was one was, the player was a bit in a computer, the bit was flying in the dark, down an alley with tron like light lines on either side, The bit was presented with things to fire at, which when hit emitted sound, a musical tone, get into the game the objects hit produce an array of tones which then goes on later to the game scenery pulsing with a background bass beat.All the hits make the bit something else, it grows and eventually takes the form of a humanoid figure flying over the landscape, the figure becoming more humanoid with the further one gets into the game. At intervals in the game the humanoid figure is presented with stages supposedly I believe representing a rotating shielded power source which one has to fire at to remove the shield segments and there hit the power source to get onto the next stage, which becomes more furious in sound and vision.

A basic game I suppose, but I am easily pleased with PS2 games, and I remember, I liked the music and light extravaganza of this game I am searching for, I remember, it was fun to play in the dark after a few beers, mesmerising is a word to describe. Maybe a clue would be, it might be a game that hit the arcade around about the time Tron was being presented as a movie, maybe it is a spin off of Tron, or even came before, but it is I remember, very Tron like in it's presentation, dark backgrounds with lines of light to represent things.

Can anyone help with what I have described, I seek just a name so I may watch and trawl ebay ?

Also, does anyone know if a game spin off from the movie Tron was a vailable for the PS2 ?

Depending on where you are ,check Ebay or Amazon, or check with a gaming store if there is one near you.

Greetings...

You may wish to try here: http://ps2.gamezone.com/gamesell/pro4017.htm

It has a fairly large list of ps2 games. Maybe you will recall the name of it if you see it.

I continuously scour PS2 game outlets for what I seek, the cover art work I will recognise, but unfortunately, not the name, as I have just found out by checking all the letters of the alphabet on the website starshineowned recommended.

So, all I am left with to ask of anyone's  knowledge or memory, is the description that I remember having owned and played the game numerous times. Because I am a visual person, I remember pictures well, but rarely names, something which I understand has happened in this case. If it helps, the cover artwork I always likened to the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon cover artwork, as the game I seek the cover art featued a white lined box with an object in it on a dark background, if my memory services me right, there is a straight rainbow spectrum of colour issuing from the white lined box. The name of the game, which I don't remember, I do remember, it was very short, perhaps four or five letters in all.

Now, if anyone has links to all the PS2 game artwork, then I might find what I seek.

If you can find contact info for PlayStation, why not write them and ask.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_2_games

a list of all PS2 games ever released, most have flags to show where (which should narrow it down) and links to further details

best of luck - there's millions!

Yeah, that's it, Rez. As soon as Lady E made me aware there was a positive reply, and I saw it here, the name came back, checking on fleabay, there are a fair few of them for sale. My first one came from fleabay, and at the time I think I paid about £20 for it, so I can do a buy it now on one for that price, or snipe for the fun of it. The game I did have, the ex wife got, at the time I left, it was with one of her kids, so that was gone forever, but, it is still about and now I can get it again.

Thanks Pyro, and the rest of you, you have been so helpful, I am grateful.

Ooo, didn't know that, the optional trance vibrator that is available for the game, though not meant to be a masturbatory aid or sex toy, there are reports it has been used as such, according to the wikepedia page dedicated to Rez ;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rez

Also the game creates a form of synesthesia, I always wondered what that was like.

REZ was a fun game. Really trippy. For those who like this game and own a PS3 I found this on a gaming blog;

"Mizuguchi has suggested that Rez HD will come to the PS3. He commented that they started on Xbox 360 but have no reason not to provide the respective game on other platforms. The famous creator of all games fun also stated that if he had a reason to remake Space Channel 5 on the next-generation hardware then he will certainly do that."

rez is wonderful one of the best games ever made, I had it on the dreamcast, the music is dictated by the game play too, and its an amazing game to play late at night with friends after certain kinds of nights out.
I remember reading somewhere about a seperate vibratiing attachment (i'm not sure what system its for) that turns the game into a sex toy.

and a bit of googling tells me it was for the ps2 http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/26/10199-trancevibrator_large.jpg

(edit ,I'm an idiot and should have read that someone had already posted about that)

I just spent the last hour, ( I think) watching Rez on Youtube, and I have the PS2 version coming in post now, I got it cheaper than last time. When I played it last, I never got past stage one, looking at later stages on the tube, all I can say is Wow !!!

rez might have come out in europe I'm not sure, but since the dreamcast was the easiest console to play pirate games in history, rarity wasn't really a problem.

I did sell my legit copy of shenmue 2 to an american on ebay for a stupid amount of money though years ago.
