To start with, just think about how you feel when you're the bottom. What makes it exciting, pleasant, or really hot for you? Think of yourself in his place, and try to create the same kind of experience for him. Of course, his hot buttons might be different from yours, so it could help to talk to him first about what he finds exciting about being on the bottom, and try to use that information.

You might find that you enjoy it a lot more than you expected when you see how excited it makes him.

But of course, you never know how something is going to be unless you try it. Good on ya for communicating and being open to try something you are uncomfortable with. Yay for a happy relationship. Great post lioncub...... i started out as a sub as well... but became a switch (but prefer domme) once i began to meet people in the scene. The way i see it, if he is willing to try new things/be dominate/ act out your fantasies, you can too. I was eager to explore both sides of the whip once i found someone that wanted to do the same. I think that as long as your doing it for the right reasons (to make your partner happy, and learn new kinks) then the least you can do is try.
