By all means, yes, do try to get some cultures done or something to be sure exactly what the problem is. When I was pretty young...young enough that I hadn't even thought about chasing girls, let alone kissing them...I started getting sores in my mouth, especially on the side of my tongue. Problem was simply that my body doesn't process niacin like it should and so I sometimes have to take niacin suppliments. Also, if I take penicillin it has the same effect due to an allergic reaction to the drug. So it could be, hopefully, something other than herpes.
