I think this is something you could get into as a group, this is the info
A group of Democratic Party activists will stand at the ready to counter the lies and distortions that erupt from the rightwing media and Republican spin doctors like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck following President Obama's State of the Union address on Wednesday night," the e-mail pitch says.
this is where you sign up

well for those sick n twisted like moi.....only thing is, I cant get Fox, so Im PHUQT
Much as I like Obama, I dont see how he is gonna have much "promising" to say, merely because hes up shits creek without a paddle right now.
SNORTSSSSSSSS a huge ratings jump for faux tho...ah well it might be worth it

Ever wonder why there are rarely (if ever) any threads about hating MSNBC or CNN or Keith Obermann or the New York Times?

About "Fact checking" Newsweek, or CBS News?

Musicmystery -> RE: Fact Check Fox?? (1/27/2010 11:23:34 AM)

I can't speak to all of these, but....

Because the New York Times and NPR have their own fact-checkers and ombudsmen, welcoming/publishing reader/listener feedback, and run corrections when warranted? And strive for balanced reporting, in the sense of inherently/coherently balanced, not in the sense of countering perceived threats elsewhere thereby intentionally slanting coverage?

I don't do TV anymore, but last I saw of it, my quarrel wasn't bias, but fluff and a culture of celebrity rather than coverage. And I don't trust Bill Gates to deliver dependable computer products, so I certainly wouldn't trust his hand in the news.

As for CBS and CNN, don't you guys attack them regularly in these threads? Seems to me they get plenty of criticism.

Newsweek is a weekly popular overview--essentially, in the same camp as Parade, maybe one notch above. Use accordingly.

Jeffff -> RE: Fact Check Fox?? (1/27/2010 11:26:09 AM)

I think everyones facts should be checked. I also think there should be a clear line seperating  "news"  for editorial content.

As well as "commentary" masquerading as "analysis."

Ted Koppel these guys ain't.

And that includes MSNBC.  I don't want crap slanted to My personal view point. I want RELIABLE information that will challenge my view point.

~FR~

Just a question....

So ABC escapes the bias charge?

Jeffff -> RE: Fact Check Fox?? (1/27/2010 11:39:53 AM)

Not in My book. My local papers print corrections and retractions all the time. I think any news media should start with those and then move on to the news.

It is inevitable things are going to be reported inaccurately. Either by accident or fabrication. The only thing that can be done about it is to come out and say, oops.

Lucylastic -> RE: Fact Check Fox?? (1/27/2010 5:06:21 PM)

I only get CNN news here, altho I get BBC and CBC. or CTV, I dont watch on a regular basis, googles news portal is my most popular news gatherer.I dont visit sites unless a linkage interests me.
I dont do partisan blogs or "websites"
Ive been used to the Beeb and stuff like fox, ABC, NBC, MSNBC any of them actually are soooo over the top it screams tawdry not information.
has nothing to do with right or left wing bias
