Hi to all!
Im interested if anybody here knows if that talc on (inside) the latex gloves (even the steriled ones) can be dangerous for health?
Can the talc cause any alergic reaction or anything like that?
Thank u in advance if u answer to me!

When I worked in nursing, I had to use the powder free gloves because the powder broke out the top of my hands and onto my fingers pretty badly. Took quite awhile to finally get it cleared up.

I'm thinking you are better off with nitrile, due to latex allergies.

Anybody can be allergic to anything, depending on what your body decides it wants to be allergic to. If you're allergic to talc, then yes, the talc powder can cause a reaction. Ditto if you're allergic to latex, the box they came in, or the perfume the phlebot is wearing.

From what I have read (and of course can't find the link now) the powder on the gloves increases the likelihood of an allergic reaction to the latex. The powder absorbs the proteins that cause the reaction and will remain on the skin (or other areas) after contact with the gloves.
Something many people don't know is that repeated exposure to latex actually causes latex allergies to develop in people who did not previously have them. That is why health care providers have a much higher rate of allergy to it.

If you have the choice go with non-latex gloves. It is a really big deal to be allergic to latex, especially if you have to be admitted to hospital. And as another poster noted, allergies to latex develope over time with exposure. The less exposure you have the better.

I should add that although there are allergies to anything (by definition), talc allergies are rare, indeed. It is far more likely to be due to something else that is in the talk or to the humidity enclosed in the talcum powder.
Dirt or acarea-mite in the inside of gloves may be another cause.
Wash every few months and replace the talcum by liberally applying new one, and you will most probably be OK.
