rexforDomina -> Which famous people were masochists ? (1/30/2010 2:11:17 PM)

Dear ladies and gentlemens !
Let us excersise our knowledge a little bit.
I wonder
Which famous people were masochists ?
I think that Turgenev , the writer was a masochist.
Zacher Mazoch obviously was a masochist.
Which else , politicians , writers , painters , or generally great people were the masochists were the masochists ?
I mean , the practiced masochists.
Because there were a lot of masochists in the history , who realized their masochistic potential not in a real life , not in a games but in their activities.
Actually in very productive , heroic , fruitful activities .
But , I am curious who from the great people had a Mistress , or Dominant ladies , and who practiced masochism in the real life.
Thank you for the replies.

Masoch, obviously.   I'd also include Anne Desclos, although that's a little less clear--she certainly did a hell of a job writing The Story of O as a kind of love letter to her de Sade enamored lover.  Kafka too, I think.  Francis Bacon (the painter).  Certainly any number of 20th century/fin de siecle performance artists.
