How do you (sub/slave) deal with the pre-menopause, menopause in the lifestyle?

In my case, some days, i am like a basket case, i get very insecure about myself, but try hard not to show it to my Dom.  He has so much on His plate, I am His sub, not a burden.  I know soon or later the menopause phase would happen.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Ropesubby:

Have you tried Black Cohosh ? Adding soy milk to your diet ? There are quite a few herbs that can alleve many of the perimenopausal symptoms. My own opinion is to stay away from the commercial preparations and use the actual herb, as a tea, or use it in it's extract form. You are more assured to getting a higher purity of the drug without the fullers. Note that you need to research your herbs before just starting taking them. They do have interactions with other drugs and other herbs, and in certain medical conditions, certain herbs should not be used. In the case of Black Cohosh, it should not be used if you have breast cancer or are pregnant.

If you are really edgy, you could try Valerian Root, it works very well for anxiety and stress. Use it carefully and research it, or e mail me and I will send you info.

Of course there is the hormonal replacement therapy which your Gyn could prescribe. I am not a big fan of HRT, but it is available for those who chose it.

As for the menopause phase, it is my experience that the only uncomfortable occurance was night flashes. I would wake up with the bed completely soaked in sweat. Adding Soy and other estrogen herbs decreased this significantly. After about three years, they stopped. BTW, menopause is when your menses stops completely, it is not a phase.

Hi,

I can relate, but as a Domme it is not such an issue about maintaining sanity. I would highly recommend that you offer Him as much info as possible on the topic. Hopefully you are in a situation where he will want to know and understand what is happening...especially the mental stuff! Fun, huh?

I've heard about the black cohosh..........i am not into the chemical stuff anyway.  My family doctor has said that i am too young for pre-menopause.  I do get the night flashes from time to time.  As for my Dom, He is understanding..........I want to make this clear.

Its just that some days, oh man [:D]

Thanks for the advice Ma'am and maybemaybenot [:)]

Not to try to contradict your MD, but there is a simple blood test that will determine if you are pre/peri menopausal.  Estradiol level and/or a FSH level.  40 is not to young to be pre menopausal, actually, it is just about average.

and I hear ya on some days... lol... those morning after I was awake half the night with sweats, were very trying.

You do seem young. I assume you aren't confusing PMS with pre-meno? Is there a history of early menopause in your family?

Is it possible it's just a hormonal fluctuation? Our bodies do tend to go through periods of time when we secrete higher than usual amounts of hormones, causing more symptoms than we may be used to.

Black Cohosh worked great for alleviating my hot flashes and night sweats. It's herbal not chemical.

I know that just a blood test would tell me exactly if its pre-menopause or my hormones are out of whack, but my doctor insists that i am too young even though that in my family history, pre-menopause has hit at a younger age, for instant, my mom started at 37 and her mom at 36.  So everytime i go see my doctor its a constant argument, but unfortunately, there are no doctors that will take new patient, even when i say that i am diabetic.  So my choice will have to be natural products.
