Lots of warm thoughts to all my MidAtlantic friends.

tazzygirl -> RE: Snow (2/6/2010 9:28:11 AM)

KatyLied -> RE: Snow (2/6/2010 10:02:01 AM)

McD's in my area are closed.  wtf?

sexyred1 -> RE: Snow (2/6/2010 10:06:54 AM)

So this is annoying...my parents were throwing a family party for my birthday tomorrow.

They live down by Princeton. I live up North. I have no snow here as yet.

They have over 2 ft and it has not stopped snowing. They cannot get out so the party is cancelled even though I have no snow and I am not sure my other family members have it yet because no one can get in touch with them.

Even if I said everyone come up here, they cannot come because their retirement community does not shovel people's driveway out until the snow stops and they are too old to do it themselves. Plus, no one can get IN to help them.

So they are stuck home and no party.

Fuck.

*stretches in a warm climate* I don't miss the snow, but I miss the cold: snow causes to many damn inconveniences.

KatyLied -> RE: Snow (2/6/2010 10:10:39 AM)

I enjoy living where the seasons change.  That being said, I think we have reached saturation with the snow.

cloudboy -> RE: Snow (2/6/2010 10:32:39 AM)

We are buried in BALTO. I would estimate its about 30 inches around my house. I live on a main road, too, and there's not traffic on it at all. Luckily the snow is not falling as hard.

Our last blizzard here was 2003, and at 38 I was much better equipped to dig out -- but now I just get really sore (too fast) and I don't recover.

windchymes -> RE: Snow (2/6/2010 10:38:33 AM)

I can't even tell how much we actually have right now because the drifting is so bad, but it's around 2 feet...I think. The snow removal company brought in a Bobcat because the 4-WD plow can't move the snow. And, it's making piles that are well over six feet high. Geez.....

4 inches.   we often miss all the fun.  I got the car shoveled.  Our normal winters are not too bad here.

housesub4you -> RE: Snow (2/6/2010 11:16:05 AM)

We have sun today and no snow here in Rockford, but i love the GOP take on the snow as proof of no such thing as global warming...

Some facts:

Wintertime temperatures have been increasing across the northern United States. Since the 1970s, December-February temperature increases have ranged from 1 to 2 degrees in the Pacific Northwest to about 4 degrees in the Northeast to more than 6 degrees in Alaska. – Winters are getting shorter, too. Spring arrives 10-14 days earlier than it did just 20 years ago. – Global warming is bringing a clear trend toward heavier precipitation events. Many areas are seeing bigger and more intense snowstorms, especially in the upper Midwest and Northeast. – Global warming is shifting storm tracks northward. Areas from the Dakotas eastward to northern Michigan have seen a trend toward more heavy snowfall season.

cloudboy -> RE: Snow (2/6/2010 7:50:14 PM)

Frigid temperatures are now setting in. On balance it looks like we got 28 inches of snow, with a caveat -- the snow was wet and heavy. Had this been a more powdery snow, I'm sure the height would have been over 3 ft.

It's a widow maker!

Get a kid to shovel for you.

kittinSol -> RE: Snow (2/6/2010 7:56:30 PM)

I feel so let down! Today, people were cavorting for long walks on the beach!

Fuck. I moved here for the dramatic climate, and all I get is mildness. You'd think I was back in Monte Carlo, but without the bloody casinos.

God, life sucks.

MzMia -> RE: Snow (2/8/2010 10:05:18 PM)

Well, still snowed in and enjoying myself.
Tomorrow will be day #4!

All the local schools and the federal government will be closed again tomorrow, thousands without power,
and 8-10 more inches of snow expected between Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

We are certainly having some record breaking snow for the MD/DC/VA corridor.

I have to admit, I would not be enjoying my snow vacation, if I had no electricity, or were out
driving in it.
Many people won't have electricity until Friday.

Only 6-12 inches here today................... makes me feel like a pussy

peppermint -> RE: Snow (2/9/2010 4:35:38 AM)

The last and first time it snowed here in Yuma that anyone was aware of was 1932.  It's a good reason to spend winters here.

VampiresLair -> RE: Snow (2/9/2010 4:44:59 AM)

We got another 2 inches of snow yesterday, and then have had rain all night so it is all pretty much washed away. It is above freezing, so other than slippery wet conditions I dont think we are going to have any freezing issues. Thank goodness, once a year was enough for me.

LadyAngelika -> RE: Snow (2/9/2010 5:02:19 AM)

Well I'm looking out my window to the almost bare pavement in Montreal and thinking winter is happening south of me this year it seems...
