TricklessMagicia -> RE: BDSM in Cartoons (2/18/2010 8:58:25 PM)

I think there is an unspoken reality to cartoons nowadays. Something I've noticed. Only in my generation were cartoons truly a weekend morning thing to be expected, it was the best part of a week as a young kid to wake up at six am and watch cartoons till 10 am and then go off to little league. Then we grew up. We became adults, horney, angry, happy, stressed adults who look back on those innocent times where our whole lives consisted of getting through the week going to little league practice, doing our homework, eating all the ice cream with chocolate sauce that we wanted and we were still skinny, all we had to was smile and laugh cutely to get praise and attention. We were praised and our worlds simple and safe. Now we are adults, we have bills to pay, deadlines to meet, and stress by the truckload, and oh yeah all those other terrible things like AIDS, Terrorism, and all kinds of other stuff. So also given that the now cartoon writers grew up in similar fashions, they bring that edge to their cartoons. I love it when I have cartoons on as background and a piece material comes up that only an adult would understand. My roomates ten year old knows something is up and he occassionally asks me questions when I'm lifting weights in the living room. So now sex, and the subsequently BDSM(because lets be honest, if you have a healthy sex drive you enjoy some form of kink) joins the subtexts of cartoons. Forgetting the whole adult industry out of japan with the crazy tentacle penis monsters. Leave with a laugh
