I am starting to wear my plug quite often, about 3-5 hours a day now. I am wondering how long it took those of you who wear one all the time to get to that point where you were able to do so.
also, what plugs do you use for the constant wear?

I can't respond to your question, but it's piqued my interest.  Would you mind answering a few questions?  Any answers you might give would be great.

I'd like to start someone wearing a plug for me.  How long could/did you wear it in the beginning?  What were the limitations to keeping it in?  Sensation?

I don't wear one ALL the time, but I've gone as long as a full day at work with one which, including drive time, is approximately 10 hours.  Ideally, for long-term wear, one should be adequately cleansed, and I would recommend a plug with a "relief" system (in other words - a hole for gaseous expulsions).  Otherwise, you're going to do it anyway, around the plug, which just feels nasty.
 
Sensations?  Depends on the size of the plug and the ability of the wearer to relax when it's inserted.  For me, it's mostly a "full" feeling.  However, if the external part of the base is too wide, it can also cause irritation and chafing. 
 
As for how long someone should wear one to begin with goes, I'd have to say let 'em wear it until it becomes uncomfortable for them.  And then give 'em another 15 minutes.

it depends really...
some days i have kept it in for 24 hours + and other days it just does not agree with me at al and i end up takeing it out due to discomfort/cramp like sensations
if everything is cleaned out via an enema I have found it a lot more comfortable to wear for longer periods of time. however I need a good hour or 2 after the enema before i can comfortably accept the plug.
hell, i have had my large doc johnson plug in for the past 5 hours now[:D]
I really enjoy the fealing i get when i have it in for long periods of time, it is always reminding me that its there and the reason why I have a plug in my ass[:)]

With my first plug, old faithful as we call it, my body has gotten so used to it, that I can wear it for hours at a time, though I generally don't sleep with it in. The larger one. . . I'm lucky if I can keep that in for just a few hours. Guess I'm still breaking it in.

girl has worn one over night but first thing when she got up removed it as it was mighty uncomfortable for her. girl has had to wear them to munches which is rather embarassing walking through the grocery store with a friend as it feels like the darn thing is coming out, so when girl gets to where the munch is she has to go make sure it is not sliding out. sometimes that is just a feeling and others it is sliding out only to have to be pushed back in.  sitting at a munch for 3hrs with it in after it's been in for 4hrs all ready is not comfortable but alas girl will eventually get used to it.

If you are going to wear it for extended time, I would use a plug with a little flex to it rather than a totally rigid one.  I would try an overnight for first extended wear, that way, you will be moving around less ... TRYING to sleep ;) and just getting 'used to' having it in.

i have a silly question, for anyone in general.  i have seen several threads on long term plug wear, but are there health risks to doing this? Shouldn't the body breathe, particularly in a place known for bacteria to exist?  Are there plugs that allow air seepage?  Curious minds wanna know....

You do not want to make it comfortable to wear for extended sessions. The day it is is also the day your bodily functions isn't working the way they should.

If you want to know why I recommend Gray's Anatomy (the book, not the TV-series with the same name) which is available in book shops everywhere.

also, when this girl was made to wear a plug, and then ordered to masterbate.  she found it very difficult to complete the task.  has anyone else had that experience or find it difficult to release while wearing a plug?[:o]

Crouchingtigress & MsSophie, thanks for your replies.  That was another concern of mine when hearing about long term constant use.  my Master does not order such wear, without removing periodically for "breaks". 

As to subden's question, i have not had that issue.  Perhaps the foreign feeling of the object is creating a distraction.

I used to wear butt plugs much more frequently than I do now and for very prolonged periods of time. Some people will claim there's no danger in this at all but there's some info here, that although very brief, is worth taking into consideration. This is not the first time I've heard of this condition either.

Since the rectum does not produce its own lubrication there is a  risk that it can dehydrate and the plug can become "welded" to the tissues. Periodic removal for lubrication would be advisable.

See, I was always taught by my anatomy teacher that anal play for any extended play would cause damage to the internal anal sphincter - which would follow to the inability to control ones bowl movements.

I find it impossible to sleep with one in.  My body just stays awake.  I have gone a whole day with one in though.  It was an interesting experience.

Size of the plug is dependant on what fits.

I can't stuff a lot of the different sized plugs in because they are too big at their widest point.

I end up using something between the width of my pinky finger and the width of a flashlight battery.  And that's all.  Anything else just won't fit.  Each person will have a size range which works for them.

Also from a comfort perspective, something made of soft (ie silicone, etc.) materials tends to be best.  Hard plastic would be hell to try and carry around inside or wind up sitting on..

From what I've read the rectum has less bacteria in it than the mouth.
