It really depends on what is used for the 'pony', how it's set up, etc. It can be painful and if you are a masochist, you'll probably love it. i know i did. :) It can be done so it really is not so painful though. Good luck with it!

G'evening My experience has been with female submissives only. The level of enjoyment/discomfort (mild to intense) is dependent on four factors. 1- Height How high the pony is set. The sub genitals should make contact with the pony before they can stand flatfooted (keeps a sub on their toes [:)]). 2" higher than the sub's inseam is general. Fatigue sets in a sub's legs till they must settle on the pony. 2 - Degree of discomfort That ranges from whether the pony has a top that is flat (mild), rounded (between) or beveled (intense). If beveled it's intensity can vary as well, from a mild flatter bevel all the way up to an intense steeper bevel. 3 - Threshold How much can a sub endure before they must rise off of the pony. 4- Time How long on their toes can they withstand before settling on the pony? The length of time a sub is able to stay on their toes decreases with each rise off the pony, bringing the sub back onto the pony. The sub becomes more and more sensitive, sending them back onto their toes. Eventually the sub cannot lift themselves off the pony anymore. Now discomfort grows to the point the sub will begin shifting, sliding, and squirming on the pony to alleviate it. We have now come to the "riding" of the pony. I usually have it take on average 30-60 minutes before the riding begins, all dependent on how the above is adjusted. Expect swelling in more intense play. I have found that there is no "straddling the fence" on this activity, a sub either loves it or hates it. Remember your safeword and giddy up! CarnalCravings

I have one.. see pic... I don't have stirrups, I just make them stay suspended on their tips toes.. I'll be honest and say it is semi retired and it is extremely sadistic, and most men find it sufferable. Women however have been known to enjoy it because all attention is placed on thier clit. Ms. Eden, With regard to Your statements on the subject of, "Riding the Pony," i can only say that i love the way Your sadistic mind works! Being forced to hang there on tiptoes for any length of time would indeed, be extremely most-painful to endure. A slave put in that kind of restraint would have to be in top physical condition; and even then, it would undoubtedly become unbearable in short order. However, it is a delicious idea, and one that i have personally dreamed of many times. i would love to be first in line to try it, should You have the urge to do this at some future date. :-) slave philip

Another way I have seen done is to have the slave/sub standing on blocks of ice while positioned over the pony - as the ice melts, they are lowered onto the pony whether they want to be or not - this can also be combined with insertables, so as the ice melts they are impaled further and further until they end up fully stuffed as well as riding the pony

The victim wouldn't have to stand directly on the ice. You could have a wooden platform they stand on and the ice is between the platform and a catch basin to catch the melting water. It would be pretty easy to rig. ~stef

[&o]forgot to mention the thick rubber/neoprene pads (boards/plywood would also work) on top of the ice blocks to protect the sub from the cold and the whole setup was in one of those cheap plastic kiddie pools you can get at Kmart for under 20 bucks so the icemelt water didnt get all over (pony was set high enough so that even at full extension after ice totally melted the subs feet would not be immersed in the cold water - didnt even touch the top of the water)

I was told that a "wooden pony" was a board as everyone has mentioned, but that a true "wooden horse" was more properly a tiangular piece of wood put to the same purpose. A long plank with a triangular cross-section about 10-12" on a side which thus forces the legs slightly appart but also allows the victim to lift weight off the genitals by squeezing with the thighs (until they become too fatigued) thus adding to the predicament.
