Just read something the other day that said the Detroit Red Wings are endanger of missing the Hockey Playoffs for the first time in twenty something years. The Question becomes, how is this possible? Were they not playing for the Stanely Cup last year? How is it that 16 teams suddenly got better then them? Are they just injury riddled ... and likely to defeat everyone ... when healthy ... in the playoffs? Why is the Red Wings management preoccupied Managing and Coaching the Canadian Olympic team? Should NHL Players even be in the Olympic's? Is this the real problem? Please do share Your thoughts!

I am post opening ceremony pissed off right now...... grrrrrr...... I don't know if they can make it back into playoff position, or not.... but about a week ago my LA Kings managed to send em packing....

Goddess Red Cat ... Why are You "post opening ceremony" pissed off ... it was a nice ceromony ... i thought... And Your LA Kings kicked their butts ... no question about it ... was just wondering how this change happens ... thats all. Plus ... Has Los Angeles ever heard of teams like the Montreal Canadians and Toronto Maple Leafs? Or is beating the Red Wings the best?

The Newscasters and Analysts say they aren't doing well due to injuries. But honestly, I think part of what made the Wings GREAT was Scottie Bowman (sp). After he retired it took time for the team to start loosing some spark they had. I know he needed to retire though.... the last 3 years beforehand he was looking pretty worn out and ill. I really liked it and was all nice and excited to see Wayne light the cauldron.... then poof, the fact that there was a misstep in the raising of the things caused the timing to be off... and I missed it when the DVR cut off.... So now I gotta wait 4 hours to see it on the next showing.... NBC should post what was missed on their site and they haven't....

Goddess Red Cat ... the ceromony with the one that did not light was ... well .. lets say unfortunate <smiles> but You do have to get a tape of it ! Scotty Bowman was in retirement for several years ... the team is run by a capable management that includes Steve Yzerman and Ken Holland and Mike Babcock ,,, Canada thinks so much of them they are running the Canadian Olympic team this year ... But You know, Scotty Bowman just came out of retirement and works for Chicago now. That might explain why Chicago is suddenly so good. What do You think?

I have never noticed that they have a problem getting to the playoffs, now winning them, that's another story.
