Like many other parts of the lifestyle, knife play will mean different things to different people..

Any specific questions?

Ooooo, sharp n shiny!

Which aspect are you asking about?

MissyRane -> RE: Knife Play... (3/28/2006 8:25:55 AM)

Doesn't it take a lot of trust to be able to be involved in a knife play? I don't think I could ever do it..could maybe try once but that'd be it, it scares me[&:] but just wondering, is it ever used in a more harsh way like..when it comes to punishments?

When i'm topping, it's a very VERY careful thing.  And it would al depend on the negotiations as to whether the blade draws blood, in which case, one has to be triply careful not to cut too deep nor draw too much blood and to keep the area sterile.

Personally, i prefer blade play where my skin is not cut, but the blade is certainly sharp enough to do it, where i must be held by my Master's will and not move or i will cut myself.  To me, the mindf*ck is the better part of the play, though the sensation is delicious too.

It's funny you should say that.  A few years ago I met someone by arrangement at Ohio Leatherfest.  We'd never met before but she wanted someone with whom she could do a heavy fear play scene.

We played for about five hours and later I asked her if the anal penetration with the pistol had been the most scary part.  She replied it was scary, but the most scary part was the knife play.  She'd figured I wouldn't pull the trigger of the pistol, but I could have killed her quietly in the motel room with the knife.

Out of the goodness of my heart I didn't point out that the shot there would have been effectively silenced [evil laugh]

yes..I think I prefer having weapons of any kind used in their meant purpose..outside the bedroom....erm..dungeon..erm..sexual..something location..never mind..
will just keep them somewhere safe or where they're meant to be[:D]

I reckon the best way to learn is to explore it yourself RESPONSIBLY.

By which I mean get yourself a knife, close your eyes, and see how it feels on your body, different pressures different moves, scenarios where it might be used, that kind of thing.

If it turns out this is all too tame, before you consider doing anything else, make sure your first aid knowledge is good, you have alcohol wipes or other cleansing equipment and that you're not going to be breaking local assault laws if it all goes wrong.

MissyRane -> RE: Knife Play... (3/29/2006 1:51:09 PM)

I know about another way...be one of those unlucky persons, and believe me you get to try it all without even wanting to[:D] not that it's the fancy way but it definitely works =X

ownedgirlie -> RE: Knife Play... (3/29/2006 11:42:23 PM)

i always had a fear of knifes, but explored it in a story i wrote for him.  He surprised me one day after that with his knife.  Mind you, i have ultimate and complete trust in him....but still i shook like a leaf.  He has expanded his use of a knife with me - when he pulled out a bowie knife i was terrified.....yet not.  He threatens my juggulars...my nipples...my clit.  One quick move can damage or kill me.  He scraps initials or messages onto my body in several areas, sometimes drawing blood. The tip is so extremely sharp this is not difficult to do.  He has slid it into my mouth.  i shake inside and barely breath, not wanting to move that much.  It is wild, adrenalizing, and i am completely powerless.  i love it!!!

NickInSLC -> RE: Knife Play... (4/2/2006 12:49:44 PM)

Hey John, I do hope you used a condom over the barrel of that gun.  I hate to think you might do something that's unsafe.

I'm still trying to figure out a punishment mode for knifeplay.  I suppose fingers and or toes could be cut off for fairly severe infractions.  However, the usefulness of a particularly recalcitrant slave would tend to rapidly deteriorate.

I am trying real hard to visualize how a knife can in any way be used for punishment?

MsBearlee -> RE: Knife Play... (4/4/2006 8:24:28 AM)

WEG   ...by my way of thinking, NOT playing with a knife is effective punishment!

If someone knows pressure point play, it can be intensified with a knife point.  However, this is best learned in person so I'm not going to go into details.  This kind of play, done improperly, can be dangerous.

IrishMist -> RE: Knife Play... (4/4/2006 1:22:23 PM)

LOL I know Mr Warren, that's why I am having a hard time visualizing it. Heck, there were times during just regular knife play that I had to be taken to the hospital for stitches because I moved at the wrong time. Which is why I am having a real hard time trying to visualize this...or maybe I should say 'comprehend' this?

Now I am confused again

As I implied, using a knife to safely inflict significant "pain" is a complex psychomotor task for the dominant.  There are ways to detect movement before it happens.  Fortunately, I learned these before I even knew what knife play was.  It's a standard part of martial arts training.  Also, there are ways of holding the knife so the pain is intense but the chance of breaking the skin is greatly lessened.  Like the former, this isn't something I'm comfortable giving details on in text as I feel it should be taught in person and then practiced under supervision.

fastlane -> RE: Knife Play... (4/4/2006 4:27:02 PM)

It is all about the touch, as is any form of expertise. With a whip you must know how to control the impact of the cracker, with a knife you must know how to control the depth and the location. I can carve my initials on each cheek and have them disappear after a month, or mark permanently....depends on the desire?
However, I have a steady hand and experience, but it comes naturally. Who would ever trust someone learning knife play?  Butter knives do not count!  For some scenes it is only about the possibilities, the fear of insinuation that is different, for many it is the marking. That's where the novice needs to step back.

Every body loves a "sharp" dressed man!   Kevin

NickInSLC -> RE: Knife Play... (4/4/2006 11:43:20 PM)

Yeah, that's the real bitch about knife play, if you play with sharp knives, the learning curve is fairly steep.  I do a lot of leather working that involves very carefully controlled cutting, and that's helped me develop control of a blade (not to mention my ability to sharpen them...), but everybody who's interested in knife play probably isn't also interested in learning leatherwork.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe that some of us are just 'knife people'.  And those of use who are most drawn towards using knives as toys for the most part already have the experience with and respect for blades to play with them in relative safety.  I can't even really think of how I would go about teaching the fundamentals of knife play to somebody who's not already a confirmed knife geek.  Yeah, 'this is how you hold a knife', safety rules, how to sharpen, how to sanitize are all simple enough, but how do you teach somebody just how hard they can press with a given edge to give sensation without leaving a mark, or just leave a scratch, or to cut through the top two layers of skin without peeling their bottom?
