There is more going on with "love" and "lust" than you suggest. Lust and love are important to the continuation of the species.. to suggest lust is damaging is just silly talk


Neither appears to be talking of love vs lust. Both are talking about the physiology of "romantic love", the areas of the brain that are stimulated and how that may encourage the development of love.

Your insistence lust must accompany love ignores situations where sexual experiences are either impossible or no longer important, such as might exist for the aged or those who suffer from certain illnesses/injuries.

Lust is about me worrying about whether my physical needs will be satisfied. Lust plays no role in love as a beloved will always concern him/herself with the needs of their beloved, including physical, emotional and sexual needs.

In other words, in love, I need not concern myself with getting my needs met because my needs are important enough to my beloved that she will do her best to meet them, just as her needs are my concern and I would do the best I can to meet her needs.

In love, there is mutual giving and thus no need for selfishness or selfish concerns.
