This is a rather pointless conversation but there is much reliable testimony and accounts rom numerous sources that Jesus lived as did his disciples.

Not really. All the historical accounts are fraught with holes. The Testimonium Flavianum is not accepted by anyone as genuine anymore. Tacitus' mention in Annals is not convincingly solid enough to suspect he acquired the information from actual Roman records. Suetonius uses a non-applicable, similar-sounding name variation.

And those are normally the most solid of actual historical aids brought to the table to attempt to substantiate the actual historicity of Jesus.

i can still find it amusing, regardless of the remorse (or lack thereof)

Let's just say, for sake of arguemnt that the opposite is true... That there is a heaven or hell or purgatory... How funny would that be?

I personally don't believe in a heaven or hell as depicted by zealots.  I suspect there is something after the physical dies.  Energy is not destroyed, it only changes form.  I like to think that my conciousness will survive in some form, just maybe not as me.

But back to the subject.  Whether one believes Jesus actually walked the earth, or that Jesus was God incarnate, the simple fact is that nowhere in any texts does Jesus address the subject of sexuality whatsoever.  One can also see the clear lack of any discussion on where to dig a latrine.  Maybe Jesus never dropped a deuce but surely some of the folks did.  Why would such an importart fact be left out?  My guess is, it simply had no importance to the message.  Basically, if sexuality was of such great importance, there should have been whole sermons about it... there should have been at least one verse.  We have the stories of Jesus verbally lashing the hell out of the religious leaders of the day, over-throwing the commercial enterprises in the Temple, but not a single word about gays or lesbians.  Not one word.

~ Fast Note ~

I play the piano too just like Elton. Being a big fan of his and knowing his background, I assume it's the criteria making Sir Elton a Jesus 'expert', whose opinion sparked this intellectual debate.

From my similarly, albeit not as noteworthy, piano bar playing and singing, egomaniac perspective; Jesus was a sadistic heterosexual Dominant.

His death was caused by a misplaced belief in a competing dogma requiring a Dominant to experience submission before earning the title 'Master'. To this day, some of the old European Houses such as 'The Ancient Royal Order of Swiss Chard' still follow this practice. In the case of Jesus, he died in a frenzy of sensory overload during the rite of passage ritual.

it's so obvious. Why did Jesus die on the cross? He forgot his 'safe-word'!

Happy Easter!

It's interesting, much of what I presented here was off of memory when I was curious and researched this topic. It has been a number of years ago. I never believed that the J-dude was the son of G, but I did kind of want to find out what all the hubbabaloo was about. I remember reading things about Pliny the younger and his letters regarding Christians and Christ. There were several other accounts of Jesus from sources that were not directly in the scope of his Christian influence.

Can these sources be discounted? Sure. Are there people that have an agenda to invalidate or validate these claims...Sure.

So I guess it comes down to a matter of faith.....Fuck, I'm screwed!!! ..lol. He is not the son of God!!

There are a few things that tipped the scale in my believing that the J-guy lived. Part of it is the outside evidence....Maybe it can be discounted. Part of it, from my understanding, is that the bible is somewhat historically accurate. Maybe that is a great way to write fiction, with a blend of fact and fantasy? I am not sure...I think it does give some credibility to the story.

Anyways, I believe that the J-man was a righteous and stellar dude! I believe that people ate his shit up. Then he was killed. Ta-dah! End of the story.

But just like Elvis, people dug this guy. He was a rock star!! So they saw him all over the place even after his demise on thrown/cross.

I believe it was Peter and Mary that carried on the torch of Christianity after the crucifixion. The stories were embellished and his legend grew.

Jesus was not dumb...It was the flavor of the day to be a prophet. He saw Rome and what it was like to live in Rome. I believe that close to 50% of the pop were slaves or non Romans. One hell of an opportunity to start a ministry.

Anywhoooo, so he lived or he didn't.

Jesus please protect me form your followers, it's the best we all can hope for.

Amen.

The Jews, the Muslims acknowledge his existence they just don't think he was the big shabang..

just out of curiosity, if Jesus died for our sins...why are we still sinning? also, if he was without sin, was the son of God and basically had all those healing abilities...why couldn't he save himself? that is, if all this were true in the first place and not more of that "spooky language" Carlin warned us about...LOL

Speaking of wild stallions....Mikey, I know how you have always wanted me to break you. I would be stern but patient.

I would run you around the pen. You would trot and listen for my every command. I would rub you behind your ears and offer you a sugar cube for being such a nice boy.....

Then I would tear that ass up!!!!!

Jesus died for somebody's sins but not mine
meltin' in a pot of thieves
wild card up my sleeve
thick heart of stone
my sins my own
they belong to me, me

people say "beware!"
but I don't care

Come on, you really think you would be breaking him in?  He's probably had so many Daddys tear him up he'd sleep through a session with the domidong.
