Aneirin -> US spammers (2/24/2010 5:06:26 AM)

In recent months I appear to have a message inbox plagued with what I assume to be spammers, something I understood by after a blurb of words, a Yahoo email address is added. Now I have sort of specified what I seek here on my profile and I have noticed the spammer in question has not viewed my profile, so spammer they are, and I do not respond to what I understand as spam.

Anyway, in the past, it was locations of African states and some East European states, but now, the last three or four messages the location is in the good ole US of A, in particular Massachusetts ?

So to those in the US of A, do you have people who are wanting to get out of the country and find another country to live in via getting sweet with a foreigner via an internet dating site, if it is, I didn't know it was so oppressive over there, that people would reduce themselves to be thought of as a spammer.

Spam's pretty indiscriminate.  I assume that some bright spammer realized that emails from Africa were getting a bad name, so he decided to have them appear to originate within the US, and sent them out to random men.  Most of which live in the US - you're an exception, but like I said, they were send out randomly.

I did not know that dating folks from abroad classifies as being a spammer now...ok...then here I am...I am a spammer...considering I only date abroad due to the fact that I will relocate either way (and not risk to put up with a Dom from here who potentially gets homesick at the end or - like previous ones - blames me for being serious about not staying here)...thanks for letting me know [8|]

HEY!  I got that one last week with someone using a different name.....but it was the same text verbatim......she's praying for my soul, since I told her to take a hike and blocked her.  It shows up in my bulk mail, since it filters the crap out.  As is oft said here.....block, delete and hide are your friends!

Personally I do not understand why this thread has been relocated to the random stupidity bin, for it was a legitimate question, and questions have been asked about spammers in the off topic forum before, this was just another of those questions with me asking wtf is going on now. Or is it a case of I have stepped on toes by suggesting America has spammers operating on this website.

It probably has something to do with the inherent stupidity of your third paragraph.

I report every yahoo spammer on here. I think they may be spoofing the ip adresses through a zombie proxy.
