I hold a massive stock of natural fibre rope, especially jute, from 4mm-8mm. I have just launched an range of Japanese style jute at affordable prices - cheaper than buying in Japan! It doesn't matter where you are as I offer free worldwide shipping on many items, The Asanawa Range is almost indistiguishable from Japanese jute (asanawa) costing many times as much! How can I do it at the price? Well, I had it specifically manufactured within the EU, so minimising costly shipping, to copy my favourite rope. It is top quality 3-ply twisted, 100% natural jute rope, supplied as 8m ropes finished with an overhand knot, treated or untreated, or off the reel cut to your requirements. It's so good that it can be used as is, just like the best Japanese rope. You definitely don't need to wash or boil it. If you are really fussy, just singe off the fuzzies, which are minimal, and treat it with Tsubaki Oil or go for the dry treated Asanawa Premium. However, it will break in and mature beautifully with just a bit of use. It is much more 'user friendly' than hemp, being much lighter, softer and far more flexible. It simply flies in your hands. Once you have used this jute, you won't go back to hemp, which feels leaden and lifeless by comparison. Why jute? It is strong, light and holds knots very well. It has little stretch, unlike cotton and most synthetics. What's more, it is less likely to cause rope burn as natural fibre does not heat up so quickly when drawn across skin. Japan's top nawashi almost exclusively chose jute and I'd trust their judgment. It doesn't have that farmyard smell that hemp has either, which I consider a good thing but some will disagree. Don't worry, I have lots of that too. I have 5mm, 6mm and 7mm versions in stock, in addition to more tightly twisted 6mm jute for those who require a good, very durable general purpose rope. As would be expected, tighter twist ropes are a little heavier due to the extra density and requires much more breaking in than the Asanawa Range.
