Exactly the point...

A prostitute would make a lot more for that amount of time, wouldn't have to work as hard for it AND she wouldn't have to deal with the public exposure that comes from having pictures and videos posted on the internet.

Either way, I don't even care, seeing that I don't even qualify... I'm too tall (5'10") and apperently, too fat (143).
But you might consider being realistically in what you expect, both money and physical wise.

Well, he said he's done 32 videos so far, so he probably already has a reasonable idea of what to expect.  Judging from his and other websites, those girls are out there.

My point is that prostitutes are capable of making a considerable larger sum of money then what he's offering, for considerable less risk of negative consequences then porn stars.
So why would a girl want to work porn if she can make more money hooking?

As to your question of which I would rather work in: I've done both in the past, and don't mind working in either, as long as the compensation is good. That does mean that I charge a MUCH higher hourly rate for porn then I do for hooking though. After all, porn is something that will keep generating income for the owner, so why would I do the same work that I do hooking, for less money then I get hooking and let somebody else take the profit on that?

Are you implying that porn work and hooking are somehow distinctly different from each other and that porn work is somehow better then hooking?
I can assure you from experience that both things are basically the same: you fuck strangers for money...
The only difference is the duration and the price you negotiate.

Hiya ishy,

Just a quick thought; many people justify working in porn as being legal, while prostitution (in almost all of the US) is not.  While personally I don't hold the legality of an act to have any genuine value, most Americans do.  Indeed, if prostitution was legal in the US, it'd likely result in escorts earning less than they do currently, since competition would be open rather than the current system.

As for the rate, $600 is pretty low for a boy/girl shoot, but not unheard of.  It may seem low to a seasoned performer, but to an amateur (or a veteran who's hard up for their car payment or rent) it's not terrible.  Having said that, Ann Arbor isn't exactly porn mecca; it's a college town with a steady supply of new, young faces who tend to find themselves in a bind (rimshot.)

you are right; I hadn't considered the legalities of things in the US.
Whenever I worked as a prostitute (in Europe), it was always within a legal frame work.

I'm not sure I agree with the idea that legalizing prostitution would lower rates though. My hourly rate (never worked paid by the "trick") started at 200 euro (currently 270 US) an hour and that was for plain, straight on sex.
Counting extras, like say for instance the bondage required for this shoot, or other things, that rate would very rapidly become a lot higher. From what I know of the US prices (though I admit to not know the exact rates in the US) it seems to me that prices are higher when prostitution is legalized (not counting second and third world countries obviously...)

Also, when a pro gets a client for an hour, very seldom will she find herself being plowed by him for the full duration of that hour; talking, socializing, washing and so on is obviously included in the price. On the other hand, the producer for a 3 hour porn shoot will most often require that the girl actually spends the lion share of those 3 hours being fucked, so they can get a suitable amount of material.

All things considered, the difference in intensity in the work, as well as the pay difference in this instance, topped off by the fact that the work will be published, seems to make it hardly worthwhile to work for such rates.

But you are right of course, a lot of people in dear need for some fast cash will find such an offer to be a tempting one; if only because they have no concept of the going rates that can be made within the industry, and the ease at which first timers usually find work. From that perspective I guess it makes sense he's not offering more. Why pay a reasonable price when you can find naive people who will work for less?

Hi ishy,

Certainly we can agree to disagree on the minor points; I think there will always be a market for very inexpensive call girls, and a market for very inexpensive girls.  I just believe that with the advertising available to sex workers today, it's easier than ever for clients to pick and choose a girl who suits his budget and taste.  With legalization, comes legitimization of the advertising systems, and more cutting out of the middle man (bookers, agents, etc.)

From my experience, even if a girl shows up on set for a shoot with her makeup and wardrobe already done, there's still a good amount of time spent dealing with paperwork, setting scene, making decisions about how the shoot will go.  Whenever bondage is tossed into the mix, nearly a third of the shoot is spent just doing rigging; the actual time having sex on video (for an amateur production like he's describing) you're likely to only have 30-50 minutes of actual intercourse, resulting in 20-30 minutes of footage.  Obviously, the circumstances vary widely, from producer to producer.

In my experience, it's actually quite difficult to get into porn for an average girl.  Getting one or two gigs for very low pay is easy; getting reliable gigs with established producers, especially in our current economic market, is nothing short of daunting.  Charlotte and I had incredible luck in the few people we met early on.  Unless one is willing to move to Los Angeles or Miami and contract an established agent, it really is not easy for a typical girl to get started.  For good or ill, the current porn market is a producer's market; many girls have taken 30-40% pay cuts on their normal rates, just to keep working. 

Just some food for thought.  Not saying that Alex Tully is legit or not; he looks like your typical 'guy with camera.'  Sometimes they're decent, sometimes they're creepy, sometimes they're boring.  It's up to the model to decide if the potential risk is offset by the potential pay off.
