I've seen some newbies take some shit here, but this didn't seem to fit the bill. The worst anyone really said was that he was overreacting. The guy seemed to want our opinions on HIS opinion and experience.

I'm not saying this place can't be harsh to newbies, I'm just not seeing it here, and not sure if you meant me, or others, but *shrugs* like I said, in this case, I'm just not seeing it.

I read her post as teasing and playful, taking into count her slang wording and smiley face.  I didn't see it as a vicious attack at all!

No, I don't think you can throw in a smiley face and make things ok, but I think that we can sometimes misread a post, or take it out of context.  I stand on my belief she was teasing and playful.  But, that's how I read it.  I guess you saw something different.  Only she can speak to her true intent.

Agreed.

That post came across to me very clearly as a joke, not at all insulting to the OP. 

If you say,

"Wow, why don't you go to a couple parties and learn something, then come back with your big boy panties and try not to be too butt hurt that the other Doms didn't play nice, k? [;)]"  Then, no, the smiley doesn't "make everything okay"

In the post in question, the smiley, in conjunction with the words used made it really clear to me that the poster didn't actually think it was any sort of test of anything that the OP failed, the poster was just goofing around.

I've seen people be WAY harsher around here, and I don't get at all why this finally crossed some line for you.

Honestly, I think we can sometimes let the negative tone of a thread color our views on individual posters.  I didn't read the entire thread, so I didn't have the same bias  you obviously read it with.  S'all good.  You were just sticking up for someone you saw being ganged up on.  I respect that.  I still don't think she meant her post to be mean or vicious.  "nuff said [:D]
