Is being Dominant a reflection of ones self imagery?
Does being Dominant stem from ones self imagery?
Does Dominating reinforce ones self imagery?

Pick one or some and run with it.

None of the above.

Dominance is a personality trait (which anyone can have, subs, vanillas, switches, doms, etc) or an orientation.

EXPRESSION of one's dominance however is a complicated mish mash of context, motivations, and perceptions.

Thanx for your input LuckyAlbatross, I always find it highly insightful.

If dominance is a personality trait then I'd have to ask what basis and foundation do we derive such traits?

Is the foundation for which we derive the sense of self (which I would then suspect propagates our behaviors and mannerisms) <-- arguable and go ahead / Is the foundation from which we derive our sense of self viscuss, maleable, or chiseled from granite?

Now you're getting into the whole nature/nurture/how do you define "self" debates. Do a search for threads, we've done plenty.

Possibilites are endless, genetics, environment, upbringing. Some with alcoholic parents do not drink becuase they know what it can do- and some drink for they have seen it all thier life. For Me it is from My family life growing up and in My nature to take the lead. Seeing how My father was has taught Me how to control My self, and to go for what I want, in that manner. I have 2 sons, and both of them, are as I was when I was thier age. Soak things up like a sponge, see, hear and remember. Thier actions, words, and demeanor is just like Mine, and that is just like My Dads. Genetics, upbringing, environment. ~BK~

I have a Dominant personality, always have had even as a child.That extends to both how I am naturaly in my relationships and in my sexuality.

It isn't a case of how I see myself, but rather what I am.

My self imagry maybe coloured by it but doesn't stem from it, I hold myself to certain standards of behavior and meeting those standards to my own satisfaction is what builds my self-image, my ability to look myself in the eye when I look in the mirror and like the person I see.

Obviously I don't know absolutely, but I suspect that would be equalty true where in some strange alternate universe there is a me who is a sub, how those standards are applied would be diffrent but I doubt they would be any lower

I so agree, and I think that is how your personality comes out is also reflected in how people respond. I have known a few who said they are Dom, and I did not see it my self, but then I am not thier slave !
