When you click on the quote button to respond to a post, the end result is something like this, with your text to follow below the box:

quote:

ORIGINAL: JaneDoe

Being a slave is the best thing ever!

The coding, which you see in the quote reply box, looks like the image below.  Notice there is an opening quote code and a closing quote code (black arrows).  The closing code is indicated with the slash inside the code.

If you quote someone who has already quoted someone, the end result is something like this, with your text to follow below the box:

quote:

ORIGINAL: JimBob

quote:

ORIGINAL: JaneDoe

Being a slave is the best thing ever!

Being a dom has its perks too.

The coding, which you see in the quote reply box, looks like the image below.  Again, there is an opening quote and a closing quote for each reply.  See the colored arrows that indicate how the codes are paired.

As the quotes build up, you will want to trim quotes to save space.  Quote what is necessary to make your point.  Remember that most people have probably already read the quoted material and it isn’t necessary to include it again.  This quote…

quote:

ORIGINAL: LarryJoe
quote:

ORIGINAL: JimBob
quote:

ORIGINAL: JaneDoe

Being a slave is the best thing ever!

Being a dom has its perks too.

No one has chimed in for male subs yet.

… is made with the following code.

Looking at the quote box above, only what LarryJoe said is necessary to repeat.  Trim Jane’s quote box by highlighting from the opening quote code to the closing quote code, and delete it.  Then trim JimBob’s quote box the same way.  What you are left with produces the following:

quote:

ORIGINAL: LarryJoe

No one has chimed in for male subs yet.

…. and the code looks like this:
