If you're going to talk about cancer like you know exactly what it is then pick up a few medical textbooks, take a few courses before you spout off about how you think it's all bullshit. You really don't seem to have a clue what cancer really is scientifically. You sound like these newage conspiracy theorists.

I had another response, but I dumped it because too many people showed up. But the thing is, I have been involved in self directed study since before I was a teenager.

What I am trying to do here is to make people realize that the C word is no more than the boogieman. An illusion. The disease does exist, I never contradicted that. But the word is bullshit. Cancer encompasses how many different forms ? YOU TELL ME !

It is nothing but a word, and words can be very powerful.

And anyone who wants to play hardball, let me ask you this. Who discovered cancer ? What was his definition ?

We can work together and find new answers to old questions, or I can take you to hell with me. Both rides cost the same.

And to this day it hasn't occured to you that your self directed study is not quite what you think it is, nor is there any logical reason that you should be sharing your "knowledge" with the rest of the world in your disjointed, garbled manner.

I have no idea how many different types there are. Has it at any time occured to you that it simply describes a type of disease that has common traits? If I go to the store and tell the clerk I want to buy a battery, they know I want something that provides some type of energy, but not the specifics. The term "battery" covers a wide range of things that have something in common. Car batteries, hearing aid batteries, alkaline batteries. They are all batteries. They all have the same basic purpose, that common trait. Likewise with cancer.

Yes, words can be very powerful. But that apparently didn't occur to you when you wrote your original post, rambling on and on about something, knowing that it could very likely insult, anger or cause emotional pain to the people who might read it. You didn't care. You were drunk or stoned and had another of your "lightbulb moments" that you had to share with others. Then you come back with an insincere apology and try to pass off your ramblings by saying you are posting in the hopes of making someone look for a new answer. On an alternative lifestyle site? With all your self proclaimed "brilliance," why not write something and submit it to some type of medical journal or research organization? Oh wait, that's because they would send the men in little white coats to take you to the padded room.

Three pages down and you are still trying to get people to see your point and think "Ah Ha!, that Termy, he really is making an excellent point, what a smart man he is." It isn't going to happen, because very rarely does anything you ever post come off as much more than what they are....the garbled ramblings of someone who has sparked up one too many joints to smoke while he is enjoying a case of beer. If you were really "sorry" about causing anyone emotional upset, you would man up and let the thread die.

Has it occurred to you that you just agreed with me about 152% ? That is almost exactly what I am saying. That is almost exactly the point I am trying to get across.

This is in reality thousands of different diseases, but for one common factor. Can you even tell me exactly what that factor is ?

Let me put it this way. If you run out of gas your car does not run. If you run out of coolant your car does not run. If you run out of oil your car does not run. So we put all these things under one hood (I think that pretty good actually) and call it "carsfuckedup". You do that. Go with those who wear lab coats if you wish.

Carsfuckedup = cancer. It is an over simplification, and at the same time an over generalization. I don't know how else to put it to make you understand.

Read, learn, use some of that self education...which frankly hasn't you gotten anywhere but hurt a lot of people here.

While you may be able to deal with things unemotionally there are many people here that cannot. It is a raw open bleeding wound. Why can you not see the people you're hurting rather than helping?

Tell me...if you walked by me on the street and saw a wide gaping wound would you stop me and pour lemon juice on that wound or salt to make the pain worse?

Or would you rush me to a hospital to get the wound taken care of and allow it to heal?

Seriously...let it go. you're doing far more harm here than you are good. You're alienating people that at one time not only defended you but actually occasionally enjoyed your rambling disjointed posts.

Want to truly learn something. Spend your free time when you're up so late on a hospice ward. Comfort the sick and the dying. Hold a chemo patient upright while they're vomiting their guts up and don't have the strength to hold their own head up. Spend a shift or two on a cancer floor or at a hospice and then tell me it doesn't exist. Spend a weekend and tell me that we don't fight until the very last second possible. Spend time with them. Talk with them. Try to explain to them how Cancer is "just" a word. Tell them how it's simply a ruse by the medical community to suck them dry of every penny they have.

It's all well a good to sit there in the dark and spout your hypothetical crap claiming that you only wish to learn something new. Yet you don't listen to a word any one says. It's easy to sit there and hide behind a monitor and talk out of your ass about things you know nothing about. It's glib to come on here and "apologize" for any hurt you may cause and yet continue to post over and over...increasing that hurt exponentially with every word you write.

I will put out a hope to the Universe that you never ever have this horrible thing called Cancer.  I would not wish it on my most detested and vilest enemy. May you never know the pain and suffering we've gone through or watched the people we love go through. May you never come face to face with your own mortality and have to fight for your own survival. May you live a long and healthy life to die peacefully in your sleep rather than ravaged and withered, writhing in pain but still fighting for one more breath.

I've said all I'm going to say on this. You don't get it. You never will.

Term do you even own a car ?  I'm sure you know nothing of cars or cancer more of you talking out of your ass... I suggest like many others are thinking its time for you to get out of your house and hop into the real world

In Ohio, 2002, the incidence of cancer was 50,608, the age adjusted rate was 471.1 new cases per 100,000, the crude rate was 496.1 per 100,000 persons.

Data obtained from Ohio Dept. of Health.

Of course, I'm sure this is just a conspiracy. Who knows what those people really died from. Maybe I'll map cancer later today if I have time.

OP, what difference does it make it they call it cancer- or something else? Many cancers have individual names. The word cancer in an umbrella under which like diseases are categorized. It's a lot like the phrase BDSM: there may be a lot of different things lumped in there, but it's similar enough to be classified together.

Cancer exists. It has different forms. Some are more insidious than others. But, it exists. All you are doing is playing a game of semantics. In the grand scheme of things, is it really so important to label something that you are willing to hurt people that have had experience with some form of cancer? What exactly are you accomplishing, or trying to, in this thread? Because, somehow, I'm missing the relevancy of whether you call it cancer or squamous cell carcinoma. The person is equally as sick and in need of treatment.

why does this thread - with all its pathetic backtracking and inherent dishonesty - remind me of this :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsLfFJJcFvg

all Monkey Dust is recommended for those unfamiliar with it - oh and do note that its writer Harry Thompson died of lung cancer at the age of 45

sorry, he "achieved closure"
