Who needs enemies abroad ?

kittinSol -> RE: Who are the enemy again ? (3/11/2010 5:04:53 AM)

Thanks for posting that, Aneirin. It's an unbelievable story. I'd never heard of it before! Wow... the CIA, a frog village and some spiked bread: you can't make that kind of shit up. Incredible...

Politesub53 -> RE: Who are the enemy again ? (3/11/2010 5:13:49 AM)

LSD is obtained from a fungus that grows naturally on rye. There are also several cases of mass hysteria caused by people using grain seed that has been sprayed with a Mercury based product as a fungicide. I doubt the CIA would have even thought of doing this to a major ally at the height of the cold war.

Aneirin -> RE: Who are the enemy again ? (3/11/2010 10:26:19 AM)

Yes, ergot of rye, something which happens to grain if kept in the wrong conditions, usually I believe stored damp. It is believed it was ergot that was responsible for the Salem witch trials, which does make sense. Ergotomine is also a powerful drug used for the treatment of migraines amongst other things, but what a perfect cover for an experiment with LSD. For any inquiry after the fact would say ergot, even if they could not find any evidence, for no one would ever think anyone would spike food with drugs, and certainly not the Americans on the other side of the Atlantic. I suspect most in the little rural villages scattered around Europe and the US could not care less about allies and wars and things unless it directly affected them, it's just stuff of the world outside, sometimes broadcasted on the tv or radio, if they had them. I believe those who enjoy rural village life where they live and work, just care about their own little world, not what goes on across the world, or even in their own capital city, if they have ever been there.

But apparently this author whilst researching something else found this story, evidence of central intelligence agency questionable actions. But now it is public, I wonder where this will go.

yeh great case for "plausible deniability"

Thankfully your doubts do not stand for much after your denial of all the evidence of the tower demolitions.

No problem. I can live quite happily knowing you scorn me for not agreeing with your repeated B/s.

And there was me thinking it was people who lived in Salem who didn't like witches behind the Salem witch trials.
Next you'll be saying that the October revolution took place in March.

Just me but the guy would have a lot more credibility if he turned his evidence into the police or French authorities...rather then write a book... Sounds like a money grab... You know… blame America… always sells and if you can blame the CIA it is even better.

RML, it is one thing doing experiments on American Citizens, or a quack doctor doing tests on his patients. Quite another experimenting on a whole town in France. After WW2 most countires carried out drug testing using soldiers or citizens as guinea pigs, thats not in question.

Termyn8or -> RE: Who are the enemy again ? (3/11/2010 9:55:37 PM)

I had to stop mid thread to correct that. Mold can become ergot, also a strong hallucinogen. In fact some historians attribute some weird behaviors in France around the time of their revolution to have been caused by ergot, but like many things proof will be scarce.

Now LSD is something else. Lysergic acid diethyl amide - 25 is refined fron lysergic (amide or acid, not sure right now) which can be obtained from morning glory seeds. Modern seeds at your home and garden store are laced with a chemical that prevents this process. So one would have to grow a generation of them, let them get fertilized and use the new seeds for this purpose.

Now I am not looking for comments about just how I know this shit, OK ? And I don't know the actual process so don't even ask. What's more there is good reason I haven't done that shit in about three decades, and would not do anything to put it on the streets. I have seen what it can do, and to top if off it was the US government who invented it. Good ole Timothy Leary was not quite our benevolent friend, and LSD was meant to be used for intelligence purposes, I guess a different form of truth serum or something like that.

Oh look, you're wrong! LSD was invented by a Swiss dude, Albert Hoffmann, in 1938.

He died two years ago.
