Abbey gazed thoughtfully out of through the conservatory windows at the relentless rain that soaking the garden. She was not long awake despite it being nearly noon and still dressed for bed in short sleepy shorts and a little vest top now hidden beneath her thick fluffy dressing gown. She clutched her favourite mug to her in both hands so that its warmth bathed her fingers and the deep aroma of coffee filled her nose. She was naturally striking and rarely wore much makeup with long auburn hair and pale soft skin. She had never needed to diet or had wanted to, preferring gentle feminine curves to boyish catwalk androgyny. From where she stood in the warmth of the conservatory the dog house was clearly visible along with its shivering resident huddled inside. When Abbey and Martin had met she was only starting out in her career and he was already rising fast in middle management. He was the kind of man who everyone liked and respected, at least to his face. Of course his single status and eligibility were of regular gossip in the office though only once their secret relationship had been going for a few weeks did Abbey convinced herself that he wasn’t gay. She hadn’t planned his ownership from the start, it just kind of happened. He rose too much too fast and made enemies, then when they threw him out and it was made sure that he could only work in meagre roles within the industry his ego couldn’t cope. Soon the debt caught up and the only way to bail himself out was by selling all he owned so when she offered him somewhere to stay he was so grateful he was putty in her hands. She had set simple rules; he couldn’t speak unless she gave him permission, was not allowed to be clothed and was completely her property, an object she owned. As such he quickly became her pet, begging for treats and learning tricks at her command. Strangely it had seemed to come naturally to him but only when she decided he should be kept chained up outside had his transformation been complete. Now his nose was pink and his body shivered from the cold. He was wet despite the kennel whose roof had seen better days and from the way he longingly looked at his bowl she knew he was hungry. She knew by the way he furtively glanced toward the house from time to time that he knew she was watching him though he also knew better than to try for her attention. Instead he just waited for her affection knowing that sometime soon he might get a walk, a game of fetch or even some petting though only if he was a good obedient puppy. For a few seconds more she looked on at him and then feeling the draw of a hot bath and a good book she walked away.
