Once again, LA is the voice of reason! [:D]
Anal is the perfect solution to all unwanted pregnancy, folks! No cocks in vajayjays, and you can even do it with your legs closed! Time to start an international campaign championing anal sex! That should go over pretty well with the religious right [8D]

Oh my, you prepare the media package and I'll go buy stocks in lube. Lotsa lube!

WyldHrt -> RE: Women's Rights! (3/20/2010 11:06:16 PM)

Ummm... gonna share those stocks when my plan takes off and everyone goes anal? [:D]
I wonder if I could get the support of the pro life folks. You know, something like "4/5 pro lifers recommend taking it up the ass" [;)]

WyldHrt. Why don't we just all stay home, in bunkers no less! You know, there is a risk of being struck by lightning!

Because that could lead to sex!  And we do not want ANY frivolous sex.

My knees just went weak....I'll probably be alright in a moment or two.

We need to get bumper stickers for this. And bumper stickers that say

'Anal sex. Because everyone loves an asshole."

I suppose we could say this is on-topic because... why again?

Ummm... we were trying to solve the problem of unwanted pregnancy so the health care bill can proceed? [:D]

No, didn't think that would fly.
Apologies to the OP and 21.
*told you we was gonna get spanked, LA*

So you care for the unborn child so much you want to put it through the experience of having parents that resent it?
People won’t be nice parents just because you want them to be. We should look into the abuse angle because resentment often leads to abuse no?

That is life. Some children scraped our knees, some children are abused, some fell off cliffs as a toddler because a parent wasn't watching closely. Things happen, bad things happen to children, even those that are loved. Sometimes even society (or governement) has to step in and remove that child from harm. Sometime that child grows up in foster homes and becomes a great painter, a great doctor or even a great parent. Who am I to take that child from his/her decree of destiny?? Who are you to?

If someone isn't loved, are they therefore unfit to live? If a husband resents his wife, should she die? If you resent your boss, should you push him off the roof? Who are you to decide what a fetus's future will hold? Loved or resented, shit happens. Me, personally, I wouldn't have an abortion and would persuade anyone I know who is having to conciously decide such, from doing so.

I think you need to be a bit more pragmatic about two things:

1) People enjoy sex, so will not stop having it.
2) People aren't going to make good parents just because they've been forced to be parents.

In 2001 853,484 legal abortions were carried out in the US, that same year only 127,000 children were adopted.

Putting aside the moral issues abortion is a fundamental necessity in society these days for society to function. There are far more potential parents these days than there ever where when it wasn't legal, so stopping it is unrealistic. I don't know why anyone worries that it'll happen, it never will because society couldn't cope.

In the end your approach of forcing people to become parents will lead to more suffering than the abortion of foetuses with no self awareness. I suspect that in your world the levels of abuse would ultimately go up and no available adoptive parents would be found for cases where abuse was evident.

But you like getting spanked WylHrt ;-) And in any case, I don't see why you were as you deviated slightly off topic and you self-moderated yourself.

And to 21, it was simply a retort. We are told by a few here that abstinence is the only true form of birth control and via abstinence one could avoid the abortion issue all together. We are just toying with the idea of how applicable this whole theory would be ;-)

I know it's a stretch, but by gosh, so is thinking that US citizens are going to start practising abstinence.

This is the kind of pragmatism that people have been failing to grasp for about 36 pages now. I wish you luck with your attempt. I seriously hope you get through to some of them.

I was not speaking just to Wyldhrt.  It was 12 out of the last 13 posts that had nothing to do with Women's Rights, but was drifting off into Wankerville.

As a pro lifer, I'll gladly nail several of you in the ass. [:D]

To the OP: Bull, I do fall on the pro-life side, most always, but it has always bothered me that those views do remove some of a woman's say-so over her body. It just bothers me less than ending the child's life.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Women's Rights! (3/21/2010 12:58:10 PM)

Here is the synopsis so far...

Women have the right to have abortions safely and comfortably.
Pro-lifers do not have the privilege of dictating the rights of everyone.
Pro-choice does not have the privilege of forcing abortions on people.
21 wants to spanks all of us if we lean away from the topic at hand.
I still want to get a tattoo of the Fleur-de-les on my right shoulder.

On that note, then you must surely believe anybody wanting an abortion for reasons other than rape or incest should be required to pay for it themselves (the whole 2 to tango thing)?

Whilst I don't know how it is in the US, here in the UK many women do pay for it themselves. In my case it was too late in Germany as once you hit 12 weeks, that is it and therefore my only option was to go abroad and I went to the UK where I paid for it. So if anyone thinks it would always be so easy just to get it paid for...well, that's not everywhere the case and on that day there were many who flew in for that and went back to their country the very same day, as they could not do it in their country anymore or aren't able to do it in their country in general.

It can be provided free of charge via the NHS but as far as I know it can take rather long to get to the appointment with the NHS...as usual...

Pnly some of a woman's say so over her body? Which parts doesn't it remove, pray tell?

that's why the word "choice" is in it, innit? [8|]

We've been over this about 20-30 times in this thread. In countries where there are government funded abortion, most do because if you are going to go through such a traumatic event, it is worth it to go to a private clinic and pay for the discretion and comfort.

The government funded hospital abortion would mostly be given to women who could not afford it. Now think about it simply from an economic perspective. If a woman cannot afford $500 or so for an abortion which is going to massively impact her life for at least the next 18 years, how do you expect her to have enough money to raise a baby.

Another point that was made earlier is that the same women that would take advantage of such a system are the women who if they had babies would take advantage of the welfare system. Which is a bigger dent in your taxpayer's wallet?

You have to start looking at this issue systemically.

Well, when you think that it is great to force a kid through the development in a womans body despite her health decreasing (does not matter if physical health or mental health or both) and expect that this will take no impact whatsoever on the kid...then so be it...

Thank goodness there are some people out there who enable us to exercise that choice when we feel it necessary to take it.
