To share my limited knowledge: - For accessories, check out ebay. Items are less expensive than the Apple "offiicial" accessories. I've gotten cases - I love the clear plastic ones and they come in different colors: http://stores.ebay.com/eStreamCorp. I just got an FM transmitter that comes with a remote control, so that you can listen to FM radio through your ipod and it works well: http://stores.ebay.com/XPINVENT. They also carry transmitters that you can use in the car to listen to the ipod through the radio. - Files: JD, yes, the music files that can be played on an ipod are different than those on other mp3 players. It's the way that Apple has cornered the market, which is why I was so resistent to buying one. But there are a lot of tech geeks that have figured out ways to get around this kind of thing. If you check out www.ilounge.com you'll find a lot of tips there, including downloading software to use with the ipod. Pollux, there is a program called Anapod Explorer that mimics Windows setup and you may like it better for organizing music on your desktop. - Katy and others looking to get into the ipod/mp3 world - check out refurbished products on apple's website (http://store.apple.com). They have shuffles for 49.00 and minis for 149.00, plus the larger gig models. I got mine on ebay, which was about 30.00 less than retail. If you are connected to an educational institution you can get a similar discount (http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/routingpage.html). Not sure how they verify if you really are or not. As an aside, my first mp3 player was by Creative Labs and worked well. It was 60ish dollars and very small. It already had a built-in FM tuner, a feature that Apple should really put on ipods. edit: ehh..my ebay links aren't working. Go to ebay and search: ipod accessories. You'll get a ton of stuff.
