Hi

I would like someone who can prove to me one way or the other if it is illegal to send graphic erotic stories to someones specific email address.

I have read about the obscentity laws but they dont seem to really cover what Im asking about. Would you be able to help me clarify please.

The legal advice would have to come from someone versed in your state's laws, and if you plan on sending them to another state, or internationally, the lawyer would need to be versed in the laws of those locations as well.

Generally speaking, if you are sending text to someone who lives in a nation where freedom of speech is valued - and that person consents to receiving such messages, there shouldn't be any legal issues to deal with.

OTOH, if the person you are sending the notes to find them offensive, and unwelcomed, you may find yourself in a situation regarding harrassment, or stalking, or other unpleasantries.

Edited to add: Whether the action is legal or not may not matter. Certain topics on CollarMe are considered taboo and not acceptable. So, if someone read them, and found them even slightly offensive, you could be banned for sending them. So, in addition to local laws, be aware of the TOS of whatever medium you plan to use when sending graphic tales.

Im in London UK. Im asking because someone I used to date dumped me because he said my erotic stories to him alone where illegal. They were certainly incestuous, though we are not related and were written in the first person. I can find no incicent in the UK of someone being prosected for this. However once and for all i would like to know if it is legal or illegal to do so in the UK. Baring in mind the works of the Maquis De sade are published and Lady Chaterleys Lover + countless erotica!

This board is pretty US-biased.  You not only want a lawyer, you want one that knows British law.

I doubt that stories about incest are illegal unless one of the partners is underage.  Could you eliminate all references to age, if they exist?

Could you request that the man who told you they were illegal, give you the applicable legal reference?

Maybe, but you're assuming they're being honest when they say they're a lawyer.  Why not just contact an actual lawyer in London?

Free legal advice from strangers on an online message board may not be the best plan of action.

Dual edged sword Carrie, your right but Web lawyers are hard to find and im not so sure my alerting a lawyer off a site like this of something that I do that maybe illegal is a good move either if you catch my drift.

And im my post I did ask for the person in question to point me to sites and sections of sites that proved the UK law one way or the other, if that is even possible as I know they are still deciding on Web laws in the UK

I know however in some states in the US it is illegal.
