Ginny123 -> Herrnias and corsets (3/26/2010 10:13:19 AM)

I have recently undergone surgery for a double ventral hernia ( just above my belly button ) the open method with a mesh inserted .

I wonder does anyone here know if wearing corsetry in the future is safe or should be left alone .
I don't think I have the nerve to ask my surgeon about this ( I'm a fairly closeted CD ) .

Any informed thoughts most welcome .

Ginny

Errr, i think you need to ask a doctor on that one .

There are some online sites where you can questions and doctors answer them, i'm not sure of the names...
But maybe you could use them and not have to ' out ' yourself, at least not to people you know.

Sounds like a good idea .

Thanks

Wearing a corset will not cause a hernia or injure a surgically repaired one. I have had 2 inguinal and 2 naval hernias.

Now if you just had surgery for this, then I would wait a minimum 12 to 15 weeks. Normal healing time for the surgery is 6 to 8 weeks.

If Collarme will allow this...Fetlife has a group called "Kink Aware Health Providers". You may find an actual doctor there that can give you actual medical advice. The surgeon that did the operation knows the best as he/she knows exactly where the mesh is. I'm not female and I don't wear corsets but I need the same proceedure at some point too. I wish you the best on this, a woman makes a corset look real cool! (yes, I said it the right order) ;)

This nurse would add that many doctors Prescribe an abdominal binder after surgery such as these.

Gin, maybe we should talk some real kink here.

I've seen corsets with trusses built in. The whole issue is that if you compress a body that is chiefly comprised of water, since liquid is not easily compressible, it must come out somewhere. It can be in the front resuling in a hernia or it can be in the back resulting in rhoids. It can be anywhere. Look at what a corset, say the type with no bra.

You get in it, it compresses you and your tits pop out some don't they ? This is more in some than others, how profound the effect is epends on a few other factors like BMI and all that.

Now if you are compressed by the corset and the truss part of it prevents a mishap down there, what happens ? Now hasn't heavy corstting been referred to as being "all trussed up" ?

With a bit of common sense corsetting is not bad, in fact can be good. Years ago I screwed up my back, and got my hands on a "wrap" thing, somewhat like a corset the way I tightened it. I wore it for about four days straight, and yes I mean that. On the last night I felt a sort of crack, after I was in bed and the next day I was fine.

These things are no joke any more than a back brace or something, which is a totally different fetish, I think. But you can experience the constriction you may crave with the proper precautions and technique.

The corset/chastity belt combo I saw was on a site devoted to chastity. There are no pics available on the net because of USC2257. But I saw it, and it looked like it was right up this alley. :-)
