Toppingfrmbottom -> Are the non std kind of warts transmitable? (3/29/2010 7:45:25 PM)

Daddy has one on his hand and I was playing with it one night forgetting he had a wart, now  it appears I have one on the back of my finger. He says they are contagious, but my real dad, not the ageplay one says they're not.

So are they? or is it more a case of it depends?

Now for the Bad news. Warts are contagious. Warts are caused by a virus and can spread from person to person. Children spread warts more easily than adults. Most adult immune systems are more developed than children's immune systems and are less likely to get warts. Any break in the skin (your skin) is enough to allow a wart spread to from someone else. Good news is there are over the counter remedies for warts today. Compound W makes a home freeze spray that works really well.

Thank you for the answer mummyman. Considering it's at the base of my finger nail right below the cuticle that's often messed with I guess that would of qualified as a break in the skin.

Yes, the "regular" kind of warts are VERY contagious.  Since they're caused by a virus, they spread easily on your own body, and also spread to other bodies, very easily.  Fortunately, they're also pretty easy to get rid of.  As mummyman said, the over-the-counter remedies work well, especially if you (and he) each only have one.  Follow the instructions EXACTLY and do it EVERY day till they're gone.  It might take up to a month, you have to stick with the treatment.  Or, see the doctor.

wind I'm going to my dr first, just to make sure it even is a wart cause it could be something else. It's probably not, but health care is free for me so why not.

Yes, it was a wart, and she used liquid nitrogen to freeze it, she said it should fall off in a couple days, an if not come back and see her, or if my finger itself becomes red or swollen come back.

I am prone to warts on my left hand.  Last time, the OTC products were not working, so I tried an old home remedy...hammer to my left thumb.  2 days later, I was able to dig the root out without any blood.

Please stop resurrecting all these old threads. It's making it difficult to read the forums. If you have a question, please start a new thread, but it's rather pointless to comment on months old threads. (unless you are the OP, and you have a follow-up.)

Liquid Nitrogen is the fastest way to treat them.
Side not. These kind of warts are cause my HPV but from a different strain that causes Cervical Cancer.

I used to be prone to them but, fortunately, I worked in a lab and had access to liquid N2 so I would just remove them myself (pour the LN2 into a styrofoam cup and apply it to the wart with a q tip).  I think some of the chemicals that I was using might have made me more prone to them because I havent had a wart on my hand in 14 years.  You guessed it,   I havent worked in the lab in 14 years.
