The place is certainly awesome to visit- I had a good time there.  Back then- I was abit irked by the   Fast food place and car dealer blocking the view.

They now might build a casino.  But one made of, gags, stone and wood.

In PA casinos have been a dicey issue to say the least.

How do you feel about urban encroachment?

The area is more then a battle field.  Indeed it was more then I expected.

I visited Gettysburg when I was but a domiboy. It was a doozy of a family vacation that took Domidudes from Gettysburg to Hershey to NYC to the Capitol then over to Williamsburg and ended at Virginia Beach.

I liked Virginia Beach because the girls were in bikinis. It is the only thing I really remember about the trip except that I saw a black guy with a gun stuck in his waist band on the NYC subway. I got my Domidads attention and pointed at it. My dad quickly grabbed my hand and held it close to his side, I thought he was going to have a heart attack. I thought it was kind of cool.

I was there when I was 7, so I don't remember it much.  But, the commercial district outside the Manassas (or Bull Run, depending on which side you were rooting for) Battlefield Park in northern Virginia, that I happen to live smack in the middle of, is thriving.  Name a hotel or restaurant chain and we got one.

I think they were a little kinder with the Fredericksburg and Antietam parks...but I'm not positive.

Wind, for the most part Gettysburg is tastefully done.  I was able to explore quite a bit of it a few years back.

On the one hand- I like that casinos help the property tax.  (yes- even me in another area)    on the other hand saturation-- and the bland standardization of everything in America is troubling.  Add in the social ills the compulsive gamblers have- and the costs are staggering.

Thank you! I love it here. Even the massive snow this winter didn't scare me away. It was a drastic change from San Antonio though!

I moved to PA from Chicago in 1988.   Best decision I made....  I would move to another part of the state- But unlikely I would move to another state.

The winters go in a 20 year cycle- I estimate.  we are not due for massive snow for - ? hmmm 7-12 years... not definite- but there is a large cycle to it.
