Sub wants to be fucked while suspended. I don't have the skill necessary to do shibari-syle suspension and don't have the time to go to a workshop (and would definitely too cautious to try it without proper help until much, much more handy). Can anybody recommend a good way to suspend a sub more safely e.g. leather straps instead of rope? Also I have to drill something into the ceiling from which to suspend sub so if anyone has any advice or a link to a website explaining how many fixture would make it safe to support the weight of a person then that would be useful.

My recommendation would be one of the sex slings/swings (leather or otherwise). You can always attach cuffs to the straps.

As for hanging it - try this if you don't feel comfortable with drilling holes:

Thanks man, the swing is what we're banking on atm and will most likely get either way. I'm happy to punch holes in my ceiling, nice and cheap to do, but I wasn't sure how best to suspend sub using thick straps instead of rope? Essentially want a mid-air hogtie, though obv with lots more support.

a sling is the safer and more secure way to suspend your sub if you are not well versed in ropework. As far as hanging the sling from the ceiling, you'll want to use the same threaded swivel hangers used to support swings on those big wooden home playgrounds and gyms. Individually they are rated from 150 - 225 pounds, so using 4 gives you a margin of safety. You'll also want to spread the load across as many ceiling joists as possible. If you set the sling up so that from head to toe your sub is in line with the joists you should be able to set the hangers into four separate joists. Also, pilot drill the holes for the hangers according to the directions that come with them, it makes them easier to install and gives you maximum holding power without damaging the ceiling joists.

That's great advice, thanks v. much. When you say 'according to directions that come with them' do you mean the instructions that come with the swing or something else?

sorry for any ambiguity - was referring to the hangers you'll need to install in the ceiling joists for the chains to hang your swing. The package should provide instructions for the diameter and depth of the pilot holes you will need to drill into the joists. Just make sure you drill the hole in the center of the joist for maximum strength and security.

there's also another alternative if you want a more entry level approach. you know the over the door cuffs they sell? they sell an over the door sex sling now too. it's just not a totally free suspension because her back would still supported by the door. oh and instead of a sex sling you might consider a climbing harness. a lot of them are open crotch and you can find full body ones that also support the chest. add some ankle cuffs and you're set. plus you can get a good climbing harness for $70-80 instead of $150 or so for a sex sling because it's a large market so they're mass produced. and they're definitely over-engineered for what you need, good for stopping someone after a 10 foot drop, much less a hang.
and basically use rope/chain rated above 200. that means it'll hold 600lbs but with the bouncing she's gonna do it might well approach that. and don't forget that the snaphooks/carabiners/locks you use to attach things need to be rated for that too.

My first gym climbing harness cost me twenty bucks and had more padding than some of those cheap sex swings, that said the attachment point for a climbing harness is right at the groin and you'll probably find that really gets in the way. I also wonder if the average door is really strong enough for suspension.

http://www.tetruss.com/ seems like a safer alternative than the ceiling or even a doorway. If she jerks around, it can put a drastic shear force on the hardware you're using to attach to the support beam or doorway. A climbing harness might work, but again, you need a *secure* attachment point.

Use an over the door gym used to perform pull-ups and as mentioned by other posters, a climbing harness. In addition to the kinky sex uses, the collateral benefits are to own an alternative fire escape for high rise dwellers.

the chin up bars are actually pretty sturdy. on the side that goes above the door, they have a little metal zigzag piece that slides between the door frame and the wall, so it keeps the top part from slipping off. not all that sturdy looking but it should hold 30 or 40 lbs of sideways force. and the part that goes in front of the door is a padded metal bar that's about a foot longer than the wall is so it's impossible to get it through without taking the top part off of the other side and then turning the whole thing. the only safety suggestion I'd have about it is you should be on the side that has the bar, to prevent your thrusting from pushing the bar off of the door which might conceivably twist the top piece off of the top.
and about the climbing harness, I was more talking about the full body harnesses, which are in the 60-70+ range rather than the 20-30 range, but usually have an attachment point at the chest. plus it adds the whole separated boobs look which I think is hot lol.
and door's can hold a fair amount of weight, even the hollow ones, as long as they're closed and reasonably well fitted. that way the whole frame acts as a brace, as does the metal latch. so as long as your door closes securely, you should be fine with over the door stuff.

If you have a vent in your celling put a long 2x4 across the beams(on the floor upstairs) and hang a chain down to the floor above. We use the same cuffs on her wrists as on her ankles If she is to be there long we put a wide strap(pull tight tie down) under her ass to hold most of the weight.
