walls shaking . . windows rattling . . and the shuttle flys overhead with a DEEP sonic boom!

It sounded like the world was ending and everhope was totally puzzled. She had never heard a shuttle come home before.

Please give her a hug from me... poor thing. Oh that I were there to comfort her. [8D]

Heck- I thought you had cum again!

ShaharThorne -> RE: -=BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM=- (4/20/2010 6:15:18 AM)

Shocking, isn't it?  They just showed the shuttle landing on the 24-hr news station here.

Damn...I need to wake up...and I don't do coffee.

ResidentSadist -> RE: -=BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM=- (4/20/2010 7:31:28 AM)

It has a very, very deep tone, unlike any other sonic boom I have heard before. It's earth shaking, like an explosion underground. The launches are like that too. If you live near the cape, a launch will rattle the dishes right our of the cupboard.

everhope says hi and that she will drop in on this thread in a little bit.

I remember those days fondly.  :D

Have you and everhope watched a night launch from the beach yet?  Those are awesome.

Louve00 -> RE: -=BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM=- (4/20/2010 7:45:41 AM)

I live about 15-20 miles inland from Daytona (actually, more like 15-20 miles inland from New Smyrna to be exact).  I heard the shuttle coming in this morning.  Its kind of hard not to in our area of central fla given the path it came in at.  I've also driven down to Space View Park to watch a night launch before.  Now, that's amazing!!

I have seen Titan launches at night many years ago. everhope has only seen daytime shuttle launches. . . which are amazing. The plume is so BIG, you can see it accross the state from the other shore in Tampa.

Wolf2Bear -> RE: -=BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM=- (4/20/2010 10:38:38 AM)

I've head them come in over Santa Barbara and Edwards, it's an amazing sound!

ShaharThorne -> RE: -=BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM=- (4/20/2010 7:10:23 PM)

My brother and SIL live in Tampa now.  Maybe they heard the boom.
