For a hardhitting documentary on the INS, as well as the many scams to get a Social Security number,  please see the movie 'The Coneheads'

The problem with illegal immigration is the Repubs want cheap labor for big ag , the Dems want new constituents, and both want the taxes collected on all the fake SS#'s the illegal's use.

Don't expect anyone in the federal government to do squat about illegal immigrants.

As far as profiling goes, if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's more than likely a duck. And if it's duck's breaking the law, you take care of the duck problem.

You know subrob that whole "duck" thing is really useful.....it's how I pegged you

it is a federal felony to enter the U.S. "other than through a legal port of entry."

The question was
"What law is being violated"
Have you got a cite for us or is just more of your unbiased opinion?

Also, I was a teenager in the 1960's. Some days we'd get stopped by the police three or four times a day and asked to show them our *Draft Cards* which we had to have, *on our person at all times!*
That's not "harrassment" it's "being in compliance" with the law.

You have bragged on numerous times about what a little fucking criminal you were back then...
it would make sense that the cops would keep an eye on you.

Mike, as usual if our federal govt. was doing their job this state law wouldn't be neccessary would it?

What Popeye said.
Sure it's unconstitutional but this is what we have been driven to.
I don't want to even imagine what might be next
Sorry virgin that line won't wash...if ,as you say "Sure it's unconstitutional" than Arizona(or anywhere else for that matter)doesn't get to do it.It is that simple...as some of my neo-con friends will be happy to tell you fealty to the Constitution is not optional. It is required.

I'm extremely concerned about illegal immigration and the effects it has on the U.S. economy.

Does this extend also to the illegal immigrants in Iraq and Afghanistan wearing suits or US military uniforms and that effect on the US economy?

You're wrong Louve00, they're ALWAYS in the ER in my area (DC, MD & VA)
I'm an EMS provider on an ambulance doing volunteer work & they always call 911 AND ADMIT to being illegal but we still have to take them.
I've strapped broken bodies to backboards in car accidents caused by illegals with a legal drivers license so thinking they'll be getting Public Assistance isn't too far of a stretch for me.

Thanks for the post VP.
We really don't want to talk about the cost of health care and illegal immigrants.
According to the USGovInfo, illegal immigrants cost the state of CA alone, over 10 billion dollars
annually.
Illegal Immigration Costs California $10.5 Billion Annually

Illegal immigrants costs Arizona at least 1.3 Billion Annually, who is paying for this?
Illegal Immigration Costs Arizona Taxpayers $1.3 Billion Annually - Associated Content - associatedcontent.com
Can you imagine the cost for all the border states alone?

To say or think that illegal immigration is not a drain on our already failing economy, is beyond ridiculous.

Most of the states don't appear to have enough money to help citizens that are here legally, I would think many states will be going to way of AZ, when the taxpayers begin to say, enough already.

The problem Marini is going the way Arizona is proposing is an out and out violation of the Constitution.....and that's a big no no.

I don't agree with racial profiling, but I DO agree with using other methods.

Well the"other methods" Arizona has chosen,or to be more correctis trying to choose, are un-Constitutional.There is no getting around "probable cause".....and that "cause" can not bea form of racial profiling. This silly little law might satisfy the popeye's of the world(and seemingly a large portion of Arizona's population)but it doesn't pass Constitutional muster.

Well gee Mike, what if Arizona were to put it's own officers on it's border with Mexico, would that pass constitutional muster?
Again we end up going back to the feds and their *absolute deriliction of duty* when it comes to enforcing our borders and immigration laws.
At what point do all the states say to the federal govt either do your fucking job or we will?
Where is the "leadership" from President Obama on this? He's been in office for 15 months now, surely he is aware of the problem!
Where's the beef? Where's the "Change?" Where's Obama?
We're paying our taxes to the *federal govt.* to do this job and it's not getting done!
I'd like to see all the states tell the feds "fuck you" no more tax remittances from us until you do the job!
And if this Az law is unconstitutional then let the feds sue them in court. Again, if the feds had been doing their job all along we wouldn't have this problem would we? What kind of company can you work for and not do your job for 20-25 years and still get paid?

Would have to wonder if the Phoenix police will be stopping visiting Europeans on vacation at the resorts and asking for papers? Somehow, I don't think so. George Wallace lives!

George Wallace, (D) Alabama:

quote:

Wallace announced his fourth bid for the presidency in November 1975. The campaign was plagued by voters' concerns with his health, as well as the media's constant use of images of his apparent "helplessness."[citation needed] His supporters complained such coverage was motivated by bias, citing the discretion used in coverage three decades earlier, or lack of coverage, of Franklin D. Roosevelt's paralysis before television became commercially available. Calculating all the Southern primaries and caucuses, Wallace carried only Mississippi, South Carolina and his home state of Alabama. Calculating the popular votes in all primaries and caucuses, Wallace placed third behind Jimmy Carter and California Governor Jerry Brown. After the primaries were completed, and he had lost several Southern primaries to former Georgia governor Jimmy Carter, Wallace dropped out in June 1976. He eventually endorsed Carter, and later claimed that he facilitated a Southerner's nomination. However, no position that Wallace advocated was included in the 1976 Democratic platform.
