Where in the LA area can I find stinging nettle? I know it grows wild in the hills, having stumbled painfully into some as a kid. But is there any place to purchase some? I don't want to have to stumble into some again to find it. Thanks.

i don't know about purchasing the nasty stuff, but there's all kinds of it around the area i live.

Never experienced it till i moved here. i'm not sure where you live in LA, but if you send me a message i can tell you where you can come pick some up for free.

And if you don't mind my asking, what exactly do you want this stuff for?

The best way to get it is to harvest it yourself. The La Puente hills trails are full of it, as are the hiking trails in the Santa Monica mountains and the Angeles Crest Trail areas. Health food stores will have tea-bags that contain the leaf and capsules, but I doubt that is what you are looking for.

In answer to the question "what is it used for". It's actually mentioned in ancient texts as a way to increase penis size (probably just induces temporary swelling). When rubbed on the labia it produces swelling, similar to what you get with a vacuum pump, but not surprisingly quite a bit more painful (WARNING: as with any irritant, if you haven't tried this before with a particular woman, be sure to test on a less sensitive area first to make sure she doesn't have a severe alergic reaction).

Rubbing the labia with it can be done as a preparatory step to a punishment raping in the Master/slave context, or just as a way to set up sex that is uncomfortable or painful for her, and very snug for him if you are more into the SM side of things. Be sure to flush the area throughly with running water unless the intent is for both parties to feel the sting. Beating with nettles isn't as satisfactory as you might imagine, but worth a try I guess if you are just looking for variety.

Thanks for the tips Leonidas. Actually, the La Puente Hills is where I ran into it as a child. I am not far from the Santa Monica mountains now, so I guess I may need to take a hike soon.

Just a thought on stinging nettles, if you are going to grow them at home, make certain that you grown them in a very large pot or an enclosed tank, because if you don't control them from early on, you will find the stuff everywhere.

I grow nettles for a variety of reasons apart from BDSM and urtification.

The fresh nettle can be boiled and made into an astringent and a mild disinfectant.

The stems are pounded and make excellent garden twine.

The nettles as a whole provide over-winter cover for a variety of butterfly and moth larvae.

You can even use nettles in soup and in the process of making soap.

k just thought I'd add this just in case anyone decides to do any of the above activities that if stung by stinging nettle a fast way to releive the pain is sword fern
it usualy grows in shaded areas and can be desinguished by the the sword like points of it's leaves but the dead give away is the pain releiver it holds. On the bottom of the leaves you will find several small extrnal deposits of a yellow powdery substance. usually it clumps together to form bumps and grooves under the leaves. you take the yellow powder and rub it ove rthe sting and the resultscan sometimes be instant.
