True but then you would not be able to post your charming little stories.

That's because you wouldn't exist to produce posts, jammed packed with misconception, for me to counter rebut and destroy.

not that it's any of your business, but my job is taking care of my handicapped gf. It's a 24/7 job and not something to snoot your nose up at. When you can say the same, then come back and speak to me. right now, you don't have a leg to stand on. So, in the mean time...stop speaking out of your ass, would you?

Oh, so you're living off HER aid.  Yes, that's much better.  What a stand-up guy you are Mike, the world needs more moochers like you.  Thank heavens you live in a "third world" country where that's possible.

~stef

an i suppose all people who are live-in care-providers are moochers? how shallow are you? i "earn" my room and board, you idiot. would you mind going and pester someone else for a change...YOU'RE GETTING ANNOYING.

At which you have been singularly unsuccessful

I'm here on R and R from Iraq. Ben deployed there with 1 ID. Figured I'd start a thread to answer questions you guys may have about what's going on there. [:D]

Was asking you the question what can be done to protect an American in Afghanistan and expected some really good advice from you as a veteran regarding this. But what I got here was rather unprofessional. Honestly I don't believe that you have been in Iraq but that you just wrote this to make yourself look important and get some attention.
I got the advice I had been seeking to help the American in question now from a German veteran and forwarded it the the American who will be sent there. As well as the result of the report of another German veteran who has been there.

I am very angry and appalled to see that you (your profile says you are American) think that all this is very funny and how much you really don't care and how you give a shit on a compatriot's and comrade's life I am doing all efforts to safe somehow here. It's a shame.

Ummm . . .

I am wondering what the wonderful advice you were given was.

Because, you see, as someone who served in the Army I thought that my advice was pretty good.  I thought that the OP's advice was pretty good.

But, it was apparently NOT the advice you were looking for, and so you got some much better advice from a German guy.  That is great.  Good for you!  WOOT!

However, if you are really trying to save people, perhaps you should share this.

I do know that the OP is in fact in the Army.

I also think that you are acting like a cry baby.  You see, I think that you did in fact want some attention.  When you did not have everyone falling all over themselves telling you just how bad you had it, you decided to throw a temper tantrum.

I think that I mentioned in an earlier post to you that you need to grow up and act your age.

America won the Iraq War with a straight cut victory.

Yeah, you guys won back in 2003, if I remember correctly. Mission accomplished, baby!

We've accomplished what we came here to do... set up a government that can govern, and a military/police force that could provide security for the people... and enforce its laws.

Ahh yes, I remember the day Bush announced that the USA was going to Iraq to help them set up a police force to protect their citizens and enforce their laws. /sarcasm

Edit for formatting.

an i suppose all people who are live-in care-providers are moochers?

Nope, not even remotely.  Most live-in caregivers, however, don't choose that path because they're complete and utter failures at anything else they've tried in life and can't even provide for themselves without their monthly handout from the government.

Back from the beach......fucking windy........just like here

No, that's just your head echoing against the walls.

I don't get it

Of course you don't get it, thanks for proving my point.

I, with one exceptionally witty sentence, point out the fact that you are long winded and that makes me an empty headed dummy?

What makes people like you the most sad is your lack of self awareness.  You may actually  have something worthwhile to contribute to society but your horrid personality will relegate you to a series of mundane low impact occupations where you'll spout your genius to your tortured co workers on your two 15 minute smoke breaks a day.

The extreme joy you feel at "destroying" other poster's positions in a dopey online forum is likely a result of you having no real impact on anything or anyone in the real world around you.

You could talk to 10 different soldiers that have served in Iraq and you would get 10 different points of view. Yours is no more special or enlightening than the dozens of others I've already heard.

And what Army are you talking about?

Because the vast majority of the soldiers that I've talked to agree, or come close to agreement, with what I've been arguing here. And I practically live within an all military/mostly Army population. So I'm calling BS on your claims that you got dozens of different points of view from dozens of soldiers. I hate to break this out to you, but those soldiers, and my, first hand accounts of what's going on in Iraq trumps those of your "soldiers."

Yes, I'll question your claims of talking to other soldiers, as it simply defies common sense, and defies what I've came across. I've talked to more than just the soldiers in my brigade.

You really are quite full of yourself aren't you? What my various (lifetime) connections with the US military are, is none of your business. However, just within my imediate family all three branches and their various components, are represented. Several with over 20 years of service. Two with multiple tours in the mideast including Iraq. One we never know for sure where he is due to the nature of his job.

On another computer in my home I have access to photos of Sadam and his capture, the hole he was living in, and the men that took him from it......taken by another person that resides in my home. I have photos of the remains of suicide bombers, and the destruction left behind. I also have photos of happy little children.......begging.

So ride off on your high horse young man. Assume that I was in ANY way contradicting what you were blathering on about. I wasn't. I am sure what you've said is the truth as you've seen it. You completely missed my point.

FYI........your town SUCKS ASS. If I remember correctly, when I was there, it was the town with the highest STD rate per capita in the country. Gotta love the military!!!

I see the two of you hijacking a thread, with your own personal fight, even though I already posted a warning.  Then, you can't simply report; you publicly call the moderators into your off-topic cyberdrama.

Both of you: stop hijacking, right now.  If either of you has any questions, contact me or another mod, in private.

LaTigresse -> RE: Back from Iraq for a short time, ready to answer your questions if you have any... (5/12/2010 7:06:47 AM)

I just wanted to add something now that I am actually awake.

I don't think I made my point very well. The OP does not seem to understand that his experience is not unique. Neither is mine or my friends and family that have military experience. We have multiple people that participate on these forums that have either served in the middle east or have loved ones that have, or are. Each of our communities, family, circle of friends, have probably been touched by it in some way.

To come in here and proclaim to be the all knowing expert and that no one else has a clue is ridiculous. Millions of people's lives have been touched, in some way, by the fiasco in Iraq. For the OP, me, or anyone else to lay claim to knowing more is stupid and arrogant. Each soldier will have a slightly different view of their experience, even than that of a soldier they served next to. Each family member will have a different view. To discredit someone else's experience is foolhardy and only shows insecurity about your own.

One thing I have discovered........the people that seem to brag most about their personal military career and achievements are usually elaborating quite colourfully. Those that are quietest are often the ones that did the actually actions the loudmouths brag about falsely.

How is it that the bulk of CM is so dreadfully ill-informed?

We have both the left and the right and center here- but CM is pithfull  in knowing what is really going on.
