rainasmiles -> How Long to Wait to Play After a Full Hysterectomy? (5/13/2010 4:34:05 PM)

Hi. I hope I have chosen the right place to ask this question. I am looking for trained medical personnel out there who might be able to advise on a safe recovery time after a hysterectomy (excision of uterus and cervix abdominally) I am aware I will need to take a leave of four to six weeks from work, but what my Master and I really need to know is how long until we can again enjoy a regular session. For us sessions usually include a very sound spanking/whipping/caning/paddling. There is a pic of my bottom after our first session on Master's profile. Viewing it should give a pretty good idea of what sort of activity we are anxious to resume, however neither of us has any desire to cause harm. Any sound and sensible advice would be greatly appreciated. Respectfully, Rainasmiles

Ask your surgeon.

Absolutly ask your doctor. You can feel great and be released for normal activity but getting beat is not the normal activity most people have. Only your doctor can tell you when it is ok to resume what is normal for you.

i'm a nurse but do not give out any medical advice other than "Ask your doctor/surgeon." Anything else will get me in hot water legally. It's called practicing beyond the scope of my license..... [8|]

Hi Raina

This forum is more to share personal experiences rather than ask for professional advice.  After having major surgery the best person to ask would be your surgeon and chances are they have been asked similar questions before.

I hope your recovery goes smoothly  [:)]

Your doctor has heard it all and seen it all. Asking him won't faze him a bit.

actually, it is such a common question no matter what the circumstances that "Sexual Activity" is a category on some hospital discharge instruction sheets.

All things considered, i wouldn't indulge before six weeks from the surgery. Actually, after my hyst. at a relatively young age, you couldn't have convinced me to do anything before the six weeks was up. It takes a while to heal from that surgery.

This is true. Don't be embarrassed to ask your doctor. I had surgery for my cervix earlier this year and my doctor told me to wait a month before having sex. She was completely unfazed when I asked her to clarify whether "extremely rough sex" and "regular sex" had the same waiting period (they did).

Usually 6 weeks is enough time for healing, but it is better to ask the surgeon. After all, this is the man/woman who get up close without getting physical to you.

When I was NPO due to an infection from my hysterectomy, he did check up on me to make sure I was healing right (allregic to a painkiller and and lack of potassium).

I worked in an emergency room for a number of years... Yup... Seen. It. All.
