I drive a 1995 Corolla, and if I could ever meet a woman who appreciated my charming frugality and practicality in making that choice, I would take that as sexy as hell.

Agreed--I've never cared to date women who date cars.

What do we have to show for it? Retirement funds!

I have dated car nuts, not because they are car nuts, that is just a coincidence.

I honestly don't really care what a man drives, as long as it's not a Smart. Something so absolutely unvirile about a Smart!

well...whilst I don't care about the car either as long as it has four wheels and an engine, what I am not fond of are BMW and Mercedes...13 years ago a colleague and I made lots of fun about those cars as in our view they either feel like having to race on the streets or to crawl...normal in between is not common in my experience.

My ex had a mercedes and when we went out to Ikea one day I asked him if he could hire a proper car for that trip....such as a VW....once I got to his house I thanked him for renting a proper car as a VW was parked in front of his house...but sadly...it didn't belong to him...so I had to join him in his Mercedes

Personally I am a VW person....they just last forever

If it wasn't for the snow half the year in Montreal, I'd invest in one of these to get around the city:

My brother got one of those from his godfather.... (not that he would have given it to me where I even did the motorbike license (though I know you don't need it for those ones) but I wouldn't have mind either ...). A very old thing which then my dad fixed...now in about 2 weeks time my dad will drive it from east germany down to south germany as my brother and his family are moving to his new job...can't believe that he takes all that distance on that old thing...

Speaking of sexy cars and Montreal potholes, I saw about a dozen Ferraris in little Italy yesterday when I went to have that espresso you refused to join me for ;-) These guys must be total masochists driving such superb machines on our streets!

*winces* Sadists is more like it, those poor cars! My ex boss has a '67 Mustang, what a great irony to take such good care of a car - then drive it on our streets.

Is he taking it on the autoroute? I'd keep a Vespa to city driving to be honest. In fact, in Québec, you aren't allowed to drive one on the autoroute.

I own the most boring, truly dull, car in the world.
It was bought out of practical necessity and I would honestly not give it to my worst enemy, it is tedium on wheels and I have to play the stereo at full blast just to keep awake. It is valium, ennui, it is a mechanical coma, it is a Mazda 3.
I looked at it this morning and something snapped in my head.
I am getting rid of it and I want something that makes my blood run again.
Front runners are a black Mercedes or a gunmetal baby Jaguar.
Having looked at the image cars, like the Impala in Supernatural, or even Death's Cadillac sixty special in the same show, or John steeds bentley and Mrs Peels Lotus, or blade's nighmaremobile or Elvira's convertible, I know I need something that says Dom to me, something that reflects my own inner playful darkness.
What would you drive? What do you drive?
I am also buying a bike again after 20 years, an old lump of metal that makes more noise than hell.
How about you?

Fox, I'm 59 and I think it's our duty to drive nice cars as we get older!
I drive a 2009 Lincoln mk S with all the bells and whistles. (There's some pics of it in my profile.)
They call the color "cinnimon" and it even has a moonroof for the back seat.
Heated and cooled leather seats from Scotland. Kick-Ass THX surround sound 5.1 stereo with 12 speakers, a jukebox that will store 25,000 songs off of c.d.s or blackberry, Navigation, Sirius radio,
VERY comfortable car! And it moves too, a V-6 with 275 H.P. 270 lbs/ft torque that gets around 21 city/27 hghy on regular gas, great ride. It's a lease but I'm probably going to buy the car at lease end.
I figure at my age why not treat myself, right? Why wait? If you want a Jag or Mercedes then go out and start looking!
In my younger years in the military I couldn't really afford a nice car. Then in the mid 90's I was a truck man, two Ford F-150 Lariats and one King Ranch! Great trucks!
Never liked bikes, you see them all huddled under bridges when it rains. And in any accident bikes always lose and the riders are seriously injured or killed. At this point in my life I like comfort, luxury and performance.

I doubt he will, I think it isn't fast enough for the Autobahn...for the Autobahn it would have to drive at least 80km/h (I think) and I doubt that this is the case...so I guess he is driving down other roads....IMO its madness as by car via Autobahn its already about 8 hour drive...but well...as long as it makes my ol' dad happy and keeps him away from getting on my nerves we all are happy

My ex suggested one of them for me in case my employer (after graduating) would demand from me to have a car (as some do!) but he can forget that....I did enjoy my time on the motorbike during driving lessons...but I also had Holly-events (thankfully which remained near misses!!!) and I learned that I am safer on 4 wheels...even more considering the madness on the tight overcrowded roads here....no thanks. My GP suggested me to use a bike to improve my fibromyalgia and I told him "you want to visit me at the A&E Department?". I did enjoy motorbike and normal bike back home...but over here, not gonna happen. Therefore if my next employer demands me to have a car then my ex simply has to get over it and to accept that I will need his help to get a cheap ol' car (as right now I could not afford one by myself...) But I know I won't drive 2 wheels on the roads down here...

Well you better get one now ( that little Saturn Sky) because they don't make them anymore and they only had 176 HP and my Vette has 350 so I'll eat that for lunch and still be hungry. ;)

Dodge Challenger - either the new ones (with a Hemi, of course) or 1970-1971 models.

...

I was going through a similar dilema recently and I second Dodge Challenger choice. I was torn between wanting a luxury car and a car that looked good on outside. Myself, I came to a conclusion that I don't need the luxury features that much, although I vey much want them when I am paying 50k for a car.

In a Challenger you will not get luxury of a Mercedes or Jaguar, but you will turn people's heads and it definately looks bad-ass. Mercedes/Lexus/Jaguar and even BMW are more of a luxury car that you can show off to your business associates; while an American muscle car like Challenger will do a different kind of showing off.

subrob drives a fast truck. No one cares that a truck goes fast. It looks like a truck going fast.

I just want a car that goes forward and holds an eight foot one piece fishing rod.

I passed it over and bought a Sebring convertible instead.  While the Sky is sexy, it was also too small to be practical for me at the time.  I wish I had bought it, though; I don't need practical now as I have an Explorer as my daily driver... my Sebring just sits in storage most of the time.

Have you considered a beige station wagon, DG? They are the great "stealth" auto whether you are speeding to the fishing hole, or looking for a place to drop off last night's date, and hoping like hell you don't get pulled over. It's like cops can't see them.

Sugarshorts I did watch it, do you have one though? That was my question...I have a brand new GMC loaded 4x4 as well, and for my off days, access to his black Escalade or Mercedes sedan. I think I have the car thing covered. There isn't much I long for when it comes to rides. I'll live without a rednecked up frigging Ford truck for god sake. I'm a Chevy girl all the way.. It's another gorgeous day out though, think I'll take the top of the Vette and tear the roads up.

I bet. I have to admit, I do love a well engineered machine! Then again, my father was an amateur race car driver so it's in my blood!

I do, or I wouldn't have posted it, Sweetums.

Vette's are nice in a balding 50ish velour vneck gold chain wearin kind of way.
