Status: offline 		I just had a very interesting conversation with a female 17 year old. She sent me an IM about the South Beach diet and we talked about that for a bit, then suddenly she asked if she could ask me something about sex. Normally i wouldn't discuss sex with a minor, but i used to teach sex ed so figured maybe i could help her.

She was planning to lose her virginity soon to her b/f and wanted to know what it is like, how big is too big, will it hurt, will she orgasm etc. She has never even touched herself sexually she said. I think she is pretty scared. I gave her the best advice i could--be sure you both really want it, you should really care for the guy and make it special, use a condom, be prepared for some pain and bleeding, etc. I also suggested she try masturbating and i gave her some tips on how to do that so that she could learn what works for her.

I'm sure she will contact me again, so does anyone have anything to add to what i told her?

Status: offline 		Gosh, that's tough because how do you tell a 17 yr old about the emotional side of it? She needs to be prepared if he never calls her again, etc.... OOO, the pains of being a teenager

Status: offline 		As an afterthought, can i get in trouble talking sex with a minor online? When i taught sex ed i did it all the time but not online. I just don't want her parents coming after me., but i also wanted to help her if i could.

Status: offline 		I don't think you can proud. It isn't like you are cyberring with her. Or preparing to meet her. You're actually doing a service for her parents by talking with her.

At least that is my opinion I very well may be wrong.

She is talking with you, if anything you can go after her parents for payment for your therapy. hehe but seriously, as to the question at hand. I'd tell her that before she does give up her virginity I'd ask her if she can wait. If the answer is Yes then at 17 maybe she should. I lost mine at 14 so I know it can be a little hard to wait but she must ask herself is she doing it for herself or for him?

Thanks cheeba, i did tell her not to give in to peer pressure and only do it if she felt ready and really wanted it.
