ShaharThorne -> Had the procedure done... (5/22/2010 12:31:57 AM)

...and nothing was found. Believe me, I was relieved because my uncle had colon cancer and died from it.

Now back to your normal channel...

Good to hear [:)]

Congratulations on a good result!! I think the anxiety of the procedure is much worse than the procedure itself.

I want the drug that they gave me to go to sleep...I remember talking to the nurse as she was shooting the drug into my IV and then I was waking up, feeling lightheaded. Procedure complete. Nothing found, did not feel a thing and I am surprise I was able to walk to the van or was it driven to the door of the hospital...I can't remember.

Most places use "twilight sleep" for anesthesia.  Congrats on your good results.  Since colon cancer is in your family, be vigilant about following doctor's recommendations moving forward.

I was expecting a lot of passing gas but I have been burping instead. Looks like I still have to wonder where the IBS is causing me pain.

Back to bed...still feeling the affects of the drug...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

KatyLied -> RE: Had the procedure done... (5/22/2010 5:25:42 AM)

Do you have IBS-C?  Because that can create a lot of pain and discomfort in your abdomen/stomach.  It can also mimic menstrual cramps (oh the things I have learned in the past 6 months)

ShaharThorne -> RE: Had the procedure done... (5/22/2010 5:56:34 AM)

I have IBS-I. It does what it wants to. I know that something in my diet afffects me, but to pinpoint the item is hard to do. I have not been able to digest salads since my gallbladder was taken out. I also cannot stand rich ice cream and fatty foods. I am trying to eliminate salty foods from my diet now (I make my own trail mix since the store brand has sodium in it).

KatyLied -> RE: Had the procedure done... (5/22/2010 7:02:41 AM)

Do you drink coffee or have coffee bean derivatives in your diet?  After I cut out coffee, my symptoms eased by 80%, there are some things I simply do not eat or I indulge in very small quantities (dairy, fried foods, salad).  I also take prilosec and do some other regimens to help the function of my GI tract.  It has taken away that feeling of having an alien punching my gut all day!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Had the procedure done... (5/22/2010 8:06:17 AM)

I cannot stand coffee, especially when it is being brewed. The mere smell makes me sick. I do eat chocolate off and on and sweet tea when we go out to eat. I drink diet MD, a can a day. afterwards, nothing but water.

Good News, Shahar!

KatyLied -> RE: Had the procedure done... (5/22/2010 7:58:37 PM)

Shar - you seem to be doing a lot of the right things.  I do not drink carbonated drinks (because of the gas) and I also try not to eat anything that is diet because I do not like artificial sweeteners.  I love tea and I drink a lot of it, hot and iced, just have to because I used to drink a lot of coffee (hot and iced) and this creates a void that I have filled with tea, I also try to drink enough non-caffeine drinks as well (vitamin water and plain water).  So much of the body's functions is related to what we eat, and digestion especially is dependent upon various things to keep it in order.
