But what is the desired outcome of this movement?

How many would applaud a repeal of SS or Medicare?

Tazzy, you're right, you know... there's a lot of people who depend upon Social Security and Medicare.  I don't think many would be applauding that kind of move, at all.

On the other hand, I do understand the sentiment behind the movement.

Because you're an intelligent woman and willing to put some thought into things, here's a link to an article by Jonathan Haidt.  He's a liberal psychology professor who has managed to put down in writing what I believe to be the fundamental differences between liberal and conservative ideologies.  It's a bit long, but an interesting read nonetheless.  I'll also admit that he's none too flattering toward conservatives and I find that a bit irksome, but in the meat of it I think he has pegged why both Conservatives and Liberals believe what we do.

The sad part is how having this understanding doesn't lead to any clear-cut solution into how to solve the problem.  But perhaps, with greater understanding into where each side is coming from, we might better find a way to achieve our common goals.

Thank you, Tazzy.

We have some very intelligent and articulate men and women here on the boards.  Whether we agree or not, I always appreciate those who are willing to actually discuss and share ideas rather than resort to pot shots and intimidation tactics.

See? This is what seriously annoys me about you. Look in the mirror. You are catty and mean and think you are superior. You arent, you come off like a neurotic babbler talking shit and bullying others.

Tazzy simply doesnt make sense but you are a conductor with your wand tearing people down to put yourself up. I feel sorry for you.

As domi would say, You sicken me.

Treasure, that's nice to know about liberals and conservatives but does Professor Haidt say anything about all of us who would be considered,...."moderates" for lack of a better term?
I've heard it said that there are more Independants out here than liberals or conservatives combined.
That's a large demographic. And the far "left" nor the far "right" don't have anything to offer us.
The left won't enforce our laws and the right make laws favoring big business. I don't like either one of those positions!

My my my, awfully judgemental. Treasure seems extremely feminine to me. But then again i dont expect women to cowtow to each other. Treasure is intelligent and well articulated. I dont always agree with her, but i dont have too. Nor do i have to agree with someone all the time to see the wisdom in what they post about.

honestly, heartcream. in my opinion, you owe her an appology.

She owes her nothing.

treasure is evasive, she doesn't respond to those that question her posts and she does not seem to be very intelligent or particularly well read.

She makes ridiculous claims that they(the teabaggers) are this nebulous group that has no direction other than a dislike for gov't. It is a bullshit comment.

Why don't the teabaggers care about military spending? Where were the teabaggers when we were spending billions on an unecessary war?

What about the comments made by Rand Paul or Mark Williams...They may not be "leaders' but they are at least organizers, strong voices and motivators of "the movement."

They are also incredibly insensitive if not outright racists in their remarks and how they construct their thoughts and arguments.

Sweetie... all I can tell you is that if you don't like what you read, then don't read.  I couldn't care less if you like me or not, or if I sicken you and domi.  It's no skin off my nose.  I think it's pretty sad that you both seem to care so much.

I do not object to how heartcream or you see Treasure in her position on the movement. My objection to heartcream was her post on hiw Treasure wasnt a woman and her rant that ensued.

Someone can seriously rub me the wrong way and make me feel quite annoyed. Being annoyed has nothing to do with walking away from the net. Being severely bothered by someone is not a fault. It is a way to sniff out the crap, the fake and all of that.

Oh Firmy I am far from perfect and look in the mirror plenty to cop to my own damage, responsibility and the like. Doesnt mean I cannot see what a playground bully your wife is and the trips she is on.

No one gives a flying fuck about you.

Do a search of my posts. It takes two seconds to call you on your bullshit and then I am off somewhere else on CM or enjoying life.

Please enjoy your little teabagger party.

I prefer not too. I have avoided watching the movies so i would have no clue beyond the goofey look and bad teeth what is happening in any picture of his. then again, i dont go around posting make-believe-boyfriend photos.

Jonathan Haidt has a large body of work out there on the internet.  I don't know if he has anything specifically about independents, but my guess would be that an independent might be someone who is able to view things from both sides of the fence.  Here's a couple of links for some late night reading:

Jonathan Haidt's Home Page

Jonathan Haidt's Profile on TED

Jonathan Haidt's Site to Promote Political Civility

Jonathan Haidt's Site on Morals

Jonathan Haidt's Book "The Happiness Hypothesis"
